They did some work with Huun Hur Tuu (I hope I spelled that right) who are a group of Tuvan throat singers and changed their name to Angelite (they were formerly the Bulgarian Women's Choir, and Mysterie De la Voix Bulgaire was what they named their CDs, correct? Anyway, Angelite can be found here: ...

Go to www.neumannusa.com and click on the contact page. They're in Old Lyme Connecticut. I had them clean my U87. While it was mildly nerve wracking to pack it up and send it away (over insured!), it was well worth it. Neumann may be a bit pricey, but they did a great job and called me to discuss th...

So far no word from the band, though I sent both an email and a myspace message. Our plan is to do the gig, and perhaps play a much longer set than allowed with no mention of them at all (we just rehearsed an additional 15 minutes of material - just in case we need it). And I plan on asking for the ...

Short paid and side stepped - what would you do?
A friend's band, one with whom my band gigs with some regularity came in for sessions last winter. We recorded three songs at a discount rate due to their limited financial resources. They paid half up front. As we recorded, they'd want changes in things, and as they lived out of state, I'd send the...

John Lennon remixed by Yoko
That would be May Pang, Yoko's assistant, who became John's girlfriend during the Lost Weekend and later. My problem with the remixes is not with the added clarity, but the laoss of the artistic vision of the original artist. For example, on Plastic Ono Band, the song " As Lennon lists the litany of...

Preordering Recording The Beatles
I pre-ordered a copy. I realized as time goes on there's loads of misinformation that has been put out there. Some by the parties involved (The Beatles and their PR machine) and some by writers who did no real investigation and made stuff up. It's all part of the mix now. A thoroughly researched boo...

Hearing Loss
I have two issues. The first is a notch centered around 3.4k according to the audiologist. The second is a constant ringing in my ears. Weirdly, the ringing is not from overexposure to loud noises, like cymbals and snare too close to my ears or the 4x12 cabinet behind me for many years, but is attri...

Best Concerts attended?
For the most amazing audience/band connectivity - Sigur Ros about a year and a half ago at the Berklee Performance Center - They held the audience in utterly rapt attention for the whole show. This is the kind of audience Robert Fripp dreams of. The audience had deteriorated somewhat when I saw them...

favorite film soundtracks?
Another great one I forgot to mention is Lisa Gerrard's Whale Rider. This is a great example of picking the right person to score the movie, even though that person never did a complete soundtrack before. A spectacularly moving movie made even more powerful by the score.

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 11-12-05
Saturday - I recorded a vocal performance of an Elizabeth Barrett Browning poem for a compilation of late 19th century dark poetry. The idea for this project is to use members of the local dark music scene and cross pollinate between bands, so singer from band A recites while keyboard player from ba...
