I have an Event 8 powered monitor that has just bitten the dust. It was making a -loud- humming noise just before it died which indicates perhaps something electrical rather than 'speaker' per se>
Anyhoo... where to get fixed in Seattle area?
TIA,
---JC

Re: Should I bear down and learn Melodyne?
Thanks for the replies. Helpful.
Apparently, there is a bug in Cubase 11 wrt Melodyne, so I'll probably stick w v4 and keep playing until it's resolved. Thus saving myself another $149 which I can use for another creativity enhancer. Beer.

Re: Should I bear down and learn Melodyne?
But you're finding it mostly automatic? ie. you just run the track through it and don't have to edit individual notes? That's the dream, of course.

Should I bear down and learn Melodyne?
This may seem like a silly question, but.... I'm getting old. And I'm becoming less and less willing to learn -any- new 'tech' unless someone convinces me to bear down and do it for my own good. I'm a 20 year user of Cubase. I own AutoTune and Melodyne 4, but I honestly cannot remember the last time...

Re: Source For Used DAW Computers?
What you say makes a lot of sense. I live in the Seattle area but I keep checking Craigslist and I haven't seen anything like what you're talking about... which I find REALLY odd--which is why I posted here. Is there another place I should be looking for the machines you mention? ---JC With my emplo...

Re: Source For Used DAW Computers?
Just out of curiosity, why do you use 5 or 6 PCs at a time? Many years ago I wired my entire house for recording. But this was before networking or PCs fast enough to have -one- central 'rack'. So I had several PCs, each with UAD cards and RME cards and network cards and VSL so I could do Cubase MI...

Source For Used DAW Computers?
I don't now how to word this but I -think- there are a lot of people in my boat so... I've got 5 or 6 bespoke PCs at any one time which I use for recording and composing. They are a hodgepodge of CORE I7s running Windows 10. Call it fate or statistics, several of them have died just in the past mont...

Please, be as snarky as you like. For whatever reason, I typed in the exact same key words and did not get those search results. So THANK YOU!

Replacement Wall Wart For Golden Age Preamp?
My Golden Age 73 Preamp is dead. The contact person in Sweden (Bo) says it's probably the wall wart... which says it's a 24v 1.75A power supply. (doesn't specify DC or AC).
Where can I get something like this? The distributor he gave me, hasn't responded.
TIA,

Re: Budget Boom Vocal Mic Stand Recommendation
Exactly! It's gotta be strong enough to not tip over. I've seen all manner of DIY deals made out of everything from steel to 2x4s (!!!) and I figured I'd ask the Interwebs before I went down that rabbit hole. Thanks! All I -really- care about is the boom -arm-. You don't happen to recall what model?...

Budget Boom Vocal Mic Stand Recommendation
It seems ridiculous to have to ask this after 20 years, but I need a new vocal mic stand for studio use (preferrably with a boom) sturdy enough to use with a decent condenser (faux U67 style) mic. The ones I've used until now have been these really old school Atlas stands that were probably designed...

Sticky Push Buttons
For some reason, several of my devices are starting to have this same issue. The little lighted push buttons are starting to 'stick'. They seem to electrically 'work' (ie. enabling/disabling when pressed), but the light stays lit unless I 'twiddle' it. There's no obvious cause (liquids, etc.) It jus...
