you are right, I have been talking about the hd while there could be more causes to noise.
system fan is for sure one of those.
Anyway, I don't care about which could be causing noise, I just care of whatever noise there could be during use.
Therefore any consideration is muchly appreciated.

A silent pc laptop

Hi, I use a hardware/pedals/software setup to play live and I often play with acoustic ensembles so I need my laptop to be very silent. I see that new laptops' prices have dropped while offering very powerful machines with dedicated video ram, lots of ram, fast processors and so on. I would like to ...

Hi Jim, your setup looks very similar to mine. I would really like some specialist could comment on the cpu I have been suggested ( AMD Athlon II X2 250 2x1MB (3.0 GHz) 65W ). I am really thinking to go with a step up because I know that a higher power would require less cooling, therefore less nois...

I come into this thread as I am at the same point. My pc has fried a week ago, so I need to find a substitute. Given the power of latest processors and the interesting prices for the ones which are not the edge of the top of the max I have been trying to keep the idea of the investment under the 400...

External vst box and Rme FF400

Hello, I am tempted to buy a thing like the Uad ( Uad-2 solo) or Tc ( powercore compact) external vst box to add to my laptop live setup. Any suggestion or experienced tips for this idea ? I am particularly interested in having delays and reverbs available out from my laptop so that I can leave some...

Yes, I tried the Avalon but I preferred the Spl over it.

I forgot to say that I was interested in knowing about the Portico because it is rackmountable and just half rack space.
Spl Gainstation and Avalon U5 are a nightmare for a musician who needs to have a small rack and a fast to set up rig.

Portico 5032 as a DI preamp ?

Hello, please don't ban me from the list for what I am going to say/ask. I use guitars and sound processors ( both hw and sw) to create my music, which can range between experimental/contemporary/ambient; I don't use amps, my main processed outputs go to the soundacard. I usually use a wonderful Spl...

please give Spl Gainstation 1 a try.
I was also comparing those DIs and have been lucky to have had the idea to try that strange golden box seating in a corner of the shop's isolated room.
It is one of my best buy.

I'll say again: If you don't need the pitch to be the same: use the pitch-shifter in Sound Forge. Make sure the "preserve duration" checkbox is not selected. Use highest quality. You want the length of the track to be 85/83=102.409639% of the unprocessed orignal. Actually I need to keep the pitch a...

Hi, I tried to export the single audio files and re-importing them in a new acid song set to 83 bpm. Unfortunately slowing down of just 2 bpm has brought to an evident warbling to the recorded sounds. It may be because most of the sounds have long sustained notes. The more rhithmic ones have slowed ...

Changing tempo to a whole song

Hi, I need to change tempo ( while keeping pitch) to a whole group of files recorded in one song. Each is a long file fitting the whole song ( 5'40"), no loops at all. I must slow them down of 2 bpm ( from 85 to 83). How can I do it ? I can use Audition, Acid and Sound Forge. Thanks for your help, I...
