Like drumsound said, try re-tuning also. The snare in this clip is a Pearl free-floating brass piccolo (3.5 x 14) with a standard Remo ambassador on top. http://www.digitaldrummer.net/samples/jcge.mp3 If i wasn't there playing it, I would've swore it was a 6.5x14. I just tuned it down and then it wa...

If the bottom snare mic sounds bad, maybe try moving it up to the side of the shell and see if you can capture some more tone out of the shell. Of course, I agree that you should either ask the drummer to bring a couple other snares and try a few different takes, or go borrow, rent, steal some other...

anyone A/B the audix D6 and the Shure Beta52? I see a lot of those 52's stuck in kicks lately and wondered--mostly been live so it's hard to tell what they really sound like. would love to hear from someone who has both.

I also use the D6 in the studio (and live). Just setup my homemade "sub-kick" too, using an 8" foam-surround woofer, on the outside. Talk about big bottom, my kick's got 'em...

ok, what about Zep's whole lotta love? that early/double vocal thing in the middle (way down inside...) was supposedly because they had something patched wrong (??) and they got bleed from a "scratch" track. but it sounded cool, so they kept it.

if you want to go cheap, try the Audix Fusion series (F10's, F12's, F15's). they actually sound pretty good believe it or not. You can probably score a set for $100-150 (depending if you get the F15 overheads) if you watch eBay. That said, I eventually went to the Audix D2, D4, D6 route (more $$). O...

the Hosa PDR-369 (if you can still get it) is the 12-point patchbay and, yes, I also use it only so I don't have to crawl behind my rack (most of the time). it is simply XLRF to XLRM pass-through. got mine brand new on eBay for about $90 (shipped). love it.

I have an Octopre LE and the Digital MPA and all clocking off the 002R, although during mixing I've gotten a couple errors lately (stating that the clock was bad), but this had happened with the other units turned off too.

you might try Redco (www.redco.com) I think they do custom stuff. I have the other Hosa patchbay (non-modular) with 12 XLR's. the length of cable from front to back is so short I surely don't notice a difference. I have some homemade Mogami cables, and some crap too.

I also have these. Are they great? no. but they are better than what we both had previously, right? the switches are supposed to be used to "tune" to the room. If you read the docs, there are suggestions for being against the wall, in the middle of the room, etc. I would suggest playing with these t...

I'm also waist-deep in a PM-1000 racking project. I put up this web page to keep a log of what I'm doing, and hopefully post some pictures. Maybe help others? It's a bit thin today, but I hope to add more including the elusive BOM that everyone needs yet nobody seems to post... http://www.digitaldru...

I think the next step, is that you should post a picture of her, and maybe one of her songs (optional), then we'll all text message our votes and decide if you should do her or not. it's really not your decision any more anyway... And Fox, if your watching, I think "Bonetown" should be on at 8pm EST...

I bought one of the 18" Traditional crashes. It was very nice. Reminded me of the 18" K Custom Dark crash (which I also have) but it still had that Paiste sound (which I hear as more "shimmer" on top). It was very close to my K though, and since I had a few other sizes of K Custom Darks already, and...
