Re: vinyl collecting ( and surrounding planetary atmosphere )

this is all I have left. but I'm pretty sure I had Nillson Schmillson and a couple Ventures records and now I'm pissed off because I don't know where they went!

Re: 500-series faceplate alignment?

I'll start off saying that I have an API 500vpr 10 -slot and a 500-8B (8-slot) so I DO expect that API will get the holes right... I do notice that there can be some contention between modules. some have full cases, some don't and some have some "flex" in that their faceplates might not even sit com...

Re: DAW as live mixer suggestions

so it sounds like you are going to live stream and then also capture the recording to use later right? so in that case, why not just use the Antelope mixer to get low/no latency feeds to headphones (assuming they will use them since no pa) and don't worry about EQ and getting them a perfect sound - ...

Re: Question: side chain compression' what, why and how

To complicate things further, in some plugins (I'll use the Slate Digital VBC as an example) there is a variable high-pass filter that feeds the side-chain (but does not HPF the entire audio output) -- and it's all internal to the plugin - so you don't have to create an external key. The benefit is ...

Re: DAW as live mixer suggestions

you mentioned UAD... do you have a UAD interface? and can you use the UAD Console mixer? I thought the whole idea of using the UAD console and putting it in real-time mode (meaning you are printing the effects) was that there was no perceivable latency? or come to think of it, you don't have to prin...

Re: Khruangbin

Saw them in Austin last year. tight band! the whole wigs thing is kinda weird and the drummer look like he's super bored. all part of the "shtick" though. I really like the almost surf reverb too. some on bandcamp here... https://khruangbin.bandcamp.com/

Re: Real or phoney: Billie Eilish tiny desk

I think a lot of why they can do this is her voice. not everyone could pull it off. if you notice, Finneas' voice doesn't sound quite as lush (maybe on purpose and less reverb...). Also maybe some expander/gate or some other post processing done? Even though the Nords are pretty quiet, I would have ...

Re: Cymbals Eat Snare

My room is about 27'L x 16W with 8.5' ceilings. Treated with broadband absorption but not completely dead sounding. 8.5" ceiling is not bad, but extremely tall either - do you have treatment above and around the drums? might be more forgiving if there was? Agreed, wish I had more height. There’s a ...
