FS ~ Motu 2408mkIII w/Black Lion mods & expander 2408mkI

Posting this for a very solid client? He has a 2408mkIII with the 424 PCI card? NOT a PCI-X? with Black Lion clock & analog mods? Very clean, I?ve been using this unit for some of the underdub phase on their record?no issues, just great sound! Boxes & manuals included $700 firm + actual shipping cos...

Re: ! new years resolutions !

for the studio, i want to make myself realize everyday how lucky i am to be doing what i am doing, in general. to be thankful, and yet be confident that i deserve to be where i am. i also want to record at least one album (outside my own bands, of course) this year that i will listen to and talk ab...

LA Audio isn't all that common...I see it less then BSS and I don't see their stuff all that often to begin with. Doesn't make it any less choice though...

The tone on the Tool rekkid seems like it's all about the amp sound. Something big, loud...DIRTY & grindy. Maybe an SVT (with a dirt box), more likely some kinda modded Marshall, Hiwatt...something tube and super gnarly. There might be some DI or other "cleaner" tone in there, most likely there was ...

I'm *shocked* that nobody really mentioned using stompbox or old 12-bit rackmount flangers. Old mxr, korg, even boss and digitech stuff is MAD kool and just way hipper/more believeable then the flangers in this $2000 TC Electronics box at the shop...

use a FAST attack and release compressor on the overheads. set the threshold so it's only really grabbing the snare hits, which, if the guy played the way you say, should be way louder than everything else... Indeed. Faster release times are the way to go...set it so the little gremlin gets outta t...

Normally I'd have at least a couple three ideas, like MASSIVE carving of the drums so that the "weaker" guitars come through but since everything went "live" to 2-track and you can't access the multi-track masters...well then...you're pretty much "fukked." Chaulk it up to a lesson and move forward s...

Yes! I think that is the problem. I have a selection of custom cables that I'm using that go from XLR/Balanced ends to 1/4 ends....but I didn't think about whether the other ends were balanced or not. I'm not very bright sometimes..... Heh heh...well, don't beat yourself up on it. Save it for the t...

Maybe there's some sort of phasing/polarity thing happening? Could be some sort of "transparent" volume or wiring issue too. You're a little vague, how...exactly, are things hooked up when this is happening?

I'm not really following...

Yeah...you'll need to dig up the owners manual & schematics before you can do anything really.

The MCI's won't pass signal & do "weird" things when the LED's on the locators burn out, might be a place to start looking for problems. Might not solve anything either.

Good luck!

Agfa 468 and sticky shed? Might it be usable?

I'm cleaning out the closet and found a half-dozen or so reels of Agfa PEM468 1/4" stock...still in plastic. Virgin. Never been touched.

Anyone know if it might be usable or is it like old 456, better to toss it since there's a 97.4% chance of gunking up the works...

Thanks.

I'd open up the hood & stick one mic a few feet over or in front of the engine. Maybe hang one or two more for alternate sounds, like at the back & side of the ride.

The 635a close to the 2-3 feet from the engine might be a good place to start...
