A 57 with a neve 1073: great. A 57 with a poop log mic pre: poop log mic pre sound. Having great mic pre's come into your life is like getting a whole new mic collection. Having BOTH is the goal, but having a "bottleneck" at the mic pre is the worst place in the chain to incur noise, limited bandwi...

I think I would rather build a cheaper, Active DI instead of a Passive where I have to buy an expensive Transformer.

anyone build their own DI box?

Does anyone have a tried and true schematic for a DI box? I'm thinking of making some stomp boxes and figured this would be a good start.

Thanks

Hey Brian,

I've concluded that either a) The tone arm was bent or b) the tone arm screw holes were drilled out of alignment. Frankly, I'm going with "a" since I bought it used. Fine little turntable too....I guess I'll see if Gemini will hook me up with another tone arm.

Thanks

I tried putting another shell there to see if was this one shell+cartridge but the same thing happens. There's a small phillips head screw ju...

Some suggestions/questions: 1) Lots of people have digital cameras. If you have one, posting a picture through free file sharing sites like SENDSPACE.COM would make things go much smoother. 2) Does anyone know of a free diagram program where people could create a schema of their studios? 3) I often ...

operator_tape,

I enjoyed your post and I'm REALLY intrigued as to how this fellow made studio monitors because I sure as hell would love to build some. Any possibility you could get some info/schematics/pictures from your friend?

very interesting. would you mind posting a little more specifics on how to accomplish this, or perhaps a link? Essentially you download the software which comes with a server and client program. You install the client on your server PC and the client on your laptop. You then give an IP address for ...
