Jon / Shinybox is the *pinnacle* of customer service. We've had a pair of their mics for almost 8 years now and they still get used, pretty much, everyday.

Just saw this! Thanks Byron for the kind words. We do love our Control Room and, according to Wes, it tests very nicely :D

We should touch base soon...

It's a long shot but... Izotope RX *might* be able to take some of the clackiness outta the DI with the declicker tool. If you don't own it maybe you can demo it. Or you can send me the track and I can try it for ya. Just an idea because it sound like the DI wold work for you if that clack was tamed...

Well said, Larry. Lord... I would never have someone watch me mix a song via video. That would be crazy. Like y'all, I too prefer to mix alone. Source-Live allows them to listen in, though, and so far everyone has loved that and it hasn't caused us any hassle... yet :)

When we do remote mixing, we stream the mix to the artist via Source-Live with a MacBook Pro. I tell them that the stream is for them to simply be able to listen in and enjoy the process but it isn't really for commentary during the mix because, and I warn them about this, there will be times where ...

Stevie Wonder "Songs in the Key of Life" Article?

Just picked up this album for $.50. Such a great record. A buddy hipped me to the fact that there was an article done on the making of this record.

Anyone know which issue that would be?

Byron - Great points and good questions and you are correct... the simple math isn't that simple.

Thanks everyone for all your input. As of a few hours ago, the artist changed his mind and will now be coming here. That's probably cheaper in the long run for him anyway.

DWLB - Yup... 40 mins from Chicago. I don't *need* the gig but I *want* the gig. He's a great musician and we hit it off really well when he was here as a session musician. My wife and I thought we'd drive there and just take the gear with us and then have a small vacation afterwards; maybe add on 3...

The Traveling Engineer

I've been asked to put together a cost proposal for me to do a live recording about 20 hours from here... Indiana right on the Lake Shore. For those of you that travel, how/what do you charge for travel time and expenses? This project would require me to bring our mobile rig, stand, mics, etc., and ...

I'm pretty sure Morphius includes lacquers and metal work it's worded poorly on their site. Request an instant quote and it'll be on there.

Regardless, we aren't doing 7" we are doing 12" nor are we doing our lacquers with any of the pressing plants. We're looking to use Salt Mastering for those.

We haven't pulled the trigger yet a run of vinyl but, so far, Morphius has the lowest prices that I've found. Couple o' things to keep in mind if you are considering a short run, Erika and Rainbo will do less than 500 but they have a minimum order of 500 jackets. So you could order 300 pieces of vin...

Morphius Vinyl and Printing Jackets

Just curious is anyone has pressed vinyl through Morphius http://www.morphius.com/manufacturing/ and if so what your experiences were. We are looking at a short run (250-300) and they have some great pricing. -also- Some pressing plants don't offer printed jackets. Where are you guys getting your ja...
