Here are two sites you may want to check out: www.ncac.com That's the website for the National Council of Acoustical Consultants. The site provides links to acoustical consultants in every state. You could probably then contact somebody in your area to ask specific questions to. http://www.hartford....

Your place looks beautiful. I'm sure it sounds nice too. Nice work!

I really like the position of your computer monitors to the rest of your equipment. Are the monitors mounted on a seperate panel behind the main surface or are they on swing arms?

Thanks,

Jason

If you want quick, clean, and cheap binaural; this is worth a look:

www.sonopak.com

I picked on up at AES and it has produced some stunningly good stereo recordings while using it with M-audio Microtrack. It should work fine with your mindisc.

If you're a registered user, going right to Audioease's library is your best bet. Here's the link:

http://www.audioease.com/IR/index.html

Another big IR site is here:

www.noisevault.com

There are some nice free IR's on there. Decent info in the forum too.

Here's the link from where I found Rember: http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20050524014158525&query=rember It should help to explain a little bit more about what it's doing. Here's a highly techy thread but there's more about memory in there than you'll ever need to know: http://www.macguru...

Operating system sounds ok if you're using 10.3.9 Hard drives sound ok if they're connected right. I don't own a 002, I have a Mbox, but I've remember reading somewhere that you need the drives connected a certain way when using a 002. You could do a search on the DUC for "002 and Firewire" and see ...

What operating system are you running? What external drives are you using? What kind of memory are you using?

All of the above factor into your situation...

After your last post, let me take this thread back about 5 steps before we get totally mixed up about what we're talking about. No offense meant by this, but after rereading your posts, I think you haven't quite got what is "digital" and what equipment you need to get there. I'm also thinking we nee...

I would have to disagree with the tube pre-amp. For clean, classical location recording, a solid-state pre is a better choice. Some names you might see pop up are Grace, Millenia, Hardy, and True Systems. Most of these would probably double your budget. If you're looking to go directly into a laptop...

The Mini-Me is a combination microphone pre-amp / DAC. I would even venture to say it's a better DAC than microphone pre-amp. Good quality analog to digital conversion doesn't come cheap and that's why I'm suggesting investing in the Apogee gear as they have a very good reputation among people who r...

I used to do a bunch of recording for a music conservatory here in the city. For portable recordings, we used an Apogee Mini-me going into a DAT recorder. A variation on that theme for you would be a Mini-me going into an Alesis Masterlink or even a M-Audio Microtrack or the Marantz you mentioned. T...

Nice start. One cool thought: Panning is your friend. There's more postions out there than hard left, center, hard right. :D

Guitars and vocals sound big. Get the conga to match their intensity.
