FWIW, I would have to disagree with the Paradigm monitors. I've heard them side-by-side with some M&K bookshelf speakers and the Paradigm's sounded great but they really colored the sound. I have two thoughts and both are just guesses but they might help. 1) The speakers you are describing sound like speakers that are made to be used in a swimming pool.
