"the question remains in my mind, tho: how did i end up consistently behind the beat by a fixed amount of time after playing (more or less) in the pocket up to just after the opening section?" sounds like your computer may have dropped out for a few milliseconds. i've had that happen. everything sou...

cool, this preamp has vu meters on the front so checking the output level should be easy enough.

are matching transformers easy to find?

thanks for your help.

hey brian, can you give some advice on rewireing the inputs so that they are low impedance? i've got a pair of preamps from an old sony reel to reel that i would like to use. right now they have a pair of small 1/8" high z inputs. want to rack mount it and install some xlr low z inputs. any advice w...

Re: Thanks for the help! A few more quick questions...

Thank-you all for your help! It has really gone a long way! I do still have a few more quick questions though. First, I'm wondering if Gepco 22 gauge wire would be OK to use to connect the capsule to the capacitor and xlr connector? Second, what kind of glue/epoxy should I use to put on the back of...

Re: Trouble with this mic...can someone give me a hand on th

I just built one of these mics and admit that I did not yet build the power supply or check for continuity as I built it. The instructions that I found said that phantom power could be used to power it as long as it was shut off when I plugged the mic in and allowed 10 minutes foe discharge. When I...

sony reel to reel mic preamps; worth the effort?

i've got the preamp section to an old sony tc-630 reel to reel. the mic preamps are noisy right now. they're a high z 1/8" input. i was wondering if the input could be converted to low z and perhaps some of the noise eliminated. the line inputs don't sound too bad, may work decent for instrument inp...

Okay, I got the Knowles Acoustics mic (part # 423-1021-ND) from Digi Key as the replacement for the Panasonic cartridge. As I look at the bottom, unlike the Panasonic cartridge there is no white positioning dot. There are only two green circuit looking lines going from one terminal to the outer edg...

i just got my mic working today. :P it's been laying around in a box for about 8 months. i put it together and it didn't work, kinda forgot about it. found it the other day and spent an hour today disassembling everything and reworking my circuit. all i had to use was a 4-1/2" X 2-1/2" plastic proje...

anyone used the pin type panasonic mic capsule? wm-61b

was wondering if there was anyone who had used the wm-61b to put together the tape-op omnis.

digikey is out of the wm-61a's but has plenty of the wm-61b's.

thought they might be easier to solder too.

surely there would be no sonic difference. or is there??

thanks in advance.
