Sorry, I guess I was unclear. I'm just looking for someone to finish this for me, as I'm out of time and patience. I've read about all I can on GroupDIY and various other threads and haven't been able to figure it out. It's at a point that another set of eyes is needed - and probably a brain with mo...

Hairball audio Rev D help

Where does one go when their DIY project doesn't work? After many hours of trouble shooting my Hairball Audio Rev D. kit, I'm stumped. I keep burning up a resistor (IIRC R32). I've checked my connections, soldering, cap orientation and everything else I can think of, but so far no dice. Is there som...

E-MU B3 and BSS DPR 944 Stereo Compressor Gate

Hello and thanks for looking. I'm clearing out some gear and thought I'd try to make a fellow TapeOp-er a deal before eBay. EMU B3 Synth. $325 shipped in the US 48 . There is a scratch on the screen and very minor rack rash, otherwise great cosmetic condition. Functions as it should. It's a great cl...

I'm going to submit the EV N/D 468 or 408. High quality transformerless dynamic at a reasonable price. Try it where you wish you had a SM7, you might be surprised.

I used this web thread to build mine: http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=16731.0 It works as advertised on complex mixes (I used Millennia Media pres to bring it back up to level). Small mixes, say a jazz combo, didn't seem to benefit. Also, in one environment I've used it, it developed a groun...

Good advice - makes sense certainly.

Regarding the mono channels. I'm a "paint by numbers" guy when it comes to DIY. Any thoughts on resistor values for the mono channel(s)?

Standard operating procedure with passive summing

Hello, I have a personal project I'd like to use my new DIY passive summing mixer (psm) with, but am confused on how to maximize my results. I like my mixes, but I've tried my psm on some some older projects and heard a noticeable difference. So i figure I'll try to eek out a little more quality bef...

Re: Faux Stereo technique
That sounds like kind of a mess to me. I would imagine that sounding worse than mono, but I haven't tried it, so maybe there's something I'm missing.
Gotta tell you that I'm lovin' the results with this "Fake MS" technique. We recorded in a very cool cathedral and this tec...

Actually that was one of the selling points in the article I read. Flipping the phase of half the delay stereo aux means it's 100% mono compatible. The hard left in-phase cancels out the hard right out-of-phase.

Faux Stereo technique

Hello, I was recording a choir concert recently and had to ditch my stereo pair due to buzzing. The only choice I had left was to go mono. It came out pretty good still but lacks width - obviously. I'm experimenting with a fake MS technique I read about a while back. Send the mono signal to a stereo...

Oh how I wish it were as simple as a cable... telling a strapped school district they need to buy a new amplifier isn't fun. Good advice otherwise. The Caig has been a godsend in other situations, sadly no help here.

Power amp cutting out

Hello, I hope someone can help. I've been plagued by multiple power amps, in multiple installations/situations misbehaving the same way. The issue is once they start acting up they don't pass audio until they receive a high dose of signal, then they kick in. The latest one I found was in a school (n...
