Greetings, I had a similar dilemma earlier this year: DIY, cheap, simple, multiple inputs, multiple selectors, Monitor volume knob, what? Came down to the "as many selectors in one box" approach. I ended up with an Adcom GFS-6; one input, six selectors. Can have more than one selection on at a time....

Agreed on snare drum. It's not right for every snare drum/overall drum sound, but it's cool for certain applications. LIke,"hmmm... how can i get some 'character' on that snare drum? Altec Saltshaker!"
