anyone else having trouble with RMGI 911 on your 388?

A friend of mine (also a 388 owner/lover) was complaining to me recently about weird dropouts he was having on track one when recording with RMGI 911. He said he even A/Bed what he was doing with some 456 and had no such problem. flash forward a few weeks and I'm working with 911 for the first time ...

I've got a CAD M9. it is a pretty cool mic but has some crappy parts on it. most notably the cable connections on the mic itself. here's a deal on 'em at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/CAD-M9-Large-Diaphragm-Microphone/dp/B0002GY9H2 I see them on ebay with a buy-it-now for $10 less than that amazon p...

I really like my CAD 179. it's an LDC with a continuously variable pick up pattern, so it tends to get a lot of use from me; and it's pretty cheap too!

I like to read Tape Op while I'm camping or on vacation. I'm usually lucky enough to get an issue before almost every trip I go on, but occasionally I get an issue 3 or 4 weeks before I'm set to leave and I torture myself by holding off from cracking its pages.

Opinions on the EMU 1212M and the EMU 1616?

So I started another thread about pitfalls to avoid when tracking analog and dumping to a computer for mixing (I?ll be trying it for the first time really soon) and the reoccurring theme was make sure your A/D converters are good. Unfortunately I have no idea! My friend has an EMU 1212M soundcard as...

A/D converter? what's that?

Thanks for all your responses. It sounds like the A/D converters are the linchpin to this operation, and also happen to be something I know nothing about! My guy's got a EMU 1212M soundcard as well as a set of EMU 1616M converters. Anyone wanna weigh in on the quality of those converters? we're not ...

record to tape then mix on computer; what are the pitfalls?

I've always recorded and mixed on my 388, but this new band I'm in wants to record to tape and then dump it all to a computer for mixing. My TOMB search for information about this found mostly posts about people's preferences rather than things to consider when taking this route. Please share your e...

she's gonna make you throw it away!?!? Time for a divorce? I don't need another 388, but I am in the market for a remote. Would you be willing to sell that seperately, and if not, could you PM the make/model so I can start the search for one? thanks -Jason

absolutely get the 388! If it's in good shape that's a good price too. I have never regretted getting mine and have never really wanted to graduate from it either! It's simple, easy to use and sounds great for what it is. A lot of records actually get made on those things. Run, don't walk to whereve...

Re: tape available online

musiciansfriend has 7" 456 1/4" wide tape in stock. i wouldn't use 456. i know some people do it, and have no problems, but i've heard it will fuck up the motor over time. better safe then sorry, imho. really? 456 is all I've ever used. I can't remember where I learned that this is the "right" tape...

I'm in love with my 388 and hope that I never outgorow it. I've recorded a bunch of stuff for my bands and other local bands on my 388 and everyone who comes in contact with it falls in love too. The simplicity and versatility lure them in and then in the end when you end up with more than you ever ...

sennheiser e602

Joel must be taking a nap (or blue in the face from saying it). the Sennheiser e602 is a good place to start. Use the search function and plug that in and I think you'll find that lots of people around here like them. I was much happier with mine (once I got one) versus my d112, which I now complete...
