Re: Very Compressed Vocals - New Settings or New Compressor?
Try re-amping the signal , then compress it again in that re-amp stage ( you will get lot's O color and lot's O compression ) you can even try a different mic for the re-amping for color as well , set the compressor to shit loads both times

Re: Aren't all optical cables the same thing?
Hey guys being somewhat of an expert in the optical area here are a few tips/info 1. Toslink is plastic fiber 2. most toslink cables are cleaved/cut using a hot knife ( leaves a very bad finish ) and have hi loss 3. lower loss will give you a further distance the signal can travel before hitting the...

Re: funk bass guitar recording... that nasty clip...

Re: Spring Reverb
Gregoirio run it under water that makes then really drip !!!!
try loosening up the springs the tighter the spring the less reverb time there is as well as changing the sound to a tight reverb sound ( the old plate reverbs used a knob to change the spring tension and plate pads

Re: tracking levels in digital recording
With a 24 bit system the last bit is taken up in the last 6dbfs in other words if your within -6dbfs you are using all the bits available
in different systems the input pre's maybe causing the issue of differnt sounding record levels ????

Re: Gefell UM70s
The Um70 uses the same module/capsule as the U87 these are great mics from what I've heard use it for vocs etc. I've been looking for 1 recently but no luck I have a u691 which also uses the m70 casule and it sounds great

Re: Guitar amp question
IT sounds like a grounding problem or a bad guitar cord !!!! change the guitar cord , also if your gain is way up there any external noise will be amplified .
switch the ground polarity switch on the back of the amp ( if it has one )

Re: Sonic Maximizers
The sonic maximizer does do some syncing of freqencies but mainly it adds harmonics the source ( it increases the amount of harmonics ) the freq it does this at is controlled by the tone knob ?? (freq control knob forgot the name ) These have been used in mastering tracks to open up the sound so to ...
