SHAMELESS PLUG WARNING: If any of you want business cards on the cheap, I work at a printshop called Qualimage Printing in Lakewood, CO... locally owned and operated. We can do a run of 500 full-color cards on a nice 100# glossy cover stock for $50 or so. Just set up a PDF for us and we won't have t...

Oh hey dude! This is the first time I have seen you on here since your get-together. Time flies, eh? I'll call Chris today and see what he and the owner have to say 'bout it. I am a little embarrassed about our control room (especially compared to the proper talent displayed at Evergroove), but you ...

not all of my pre's have inserts...can any TRS balanced input be used as an insert with a Y cable? No. A balanced input is an input, and an insert is an insert. The latter is not balanced, but instead uses the tip of a TRS to send and the ring of the same to return a signal to/from your favorite ou...

I'm down. I mean in. Never been there, but it sounds alright. Either the 2nd or the 26th works for me. 2015 E 17th... where is that? You know that's only 8 blocks or so East of Cherry Sound? Maybe I could get Chris to let us all barge in and talk treating a cubic control room.

Who else?

I think it's killer. It seems really well thought out and easy to navigate, with quick learning curve. I was happy to find that it loads into Chainer (which is great when you have to try something NOW, you know?) and seems to operate well minus the GUI latency. This is probably due to my old AMD CPU...

This is the link I have saved. I assume the price is not the greatest, as Phalaris stated.

There is also SPAN by Voxengo (excellent). I am not sure about compatibility, though.

I know it seems like a redundant thing, and it seems so simple that you're wondering if this is my first day of recording school, but my reason for mentioning FreeG is that despite it's initial appearance of uselessness, I found ways that it's changed the way I work for the better! So you are sayin...

Waves Imager, BTW, does more than just pan from side to side, as you can see (and somewhat hear depending on the souce) from the graph on it's GUI. The concept is cool, but I have rarely used it because it seems to cut out certain things in order to accomplish it's goal. As far as the FreeG, I downl...

Yeah, with the rails I got off of the 'bay I had to make the opening 19 1/8" to properly acommodate all my gear. I suggest the same as Brian, but once you have the rails just hook them up to your widest and narrowest pieces of gear and THEN make the box part. As much as 19" is a standard, it seems l...

1. Set it to test resistance (ohms) and if there is none, there you go. The digital one I have has a setting that beeps to indicate continuity. 2. I guess so. 3. Usually with those DPDT switches the signal goes in through the two in the center and out through the two on the left or right, depending ...

Dried beans/rice inside of various hollow objects = all kinds of shakers... Contact transducer screwed into a wall or a desk or clipped to a piano and then mic'd.. Tube-in-a-tube makes a great didgeribone (tromberidoo?) and the adjustable resonant frequency makes fine tuning the mic-in-a-tube idea p...

Remember when autotune was a black box and not a plug-in? Yeah, it still is. And it still took 2+ hours to tweak the vocals on a cover of "Strawberry Fields Forever" until they sounded like he needed to sing them again... still. Hate that f---ing black box. It would have sounded better through a Fu...

Thanks a mint! This is the perfect accompanyment to the Forest Mims book I just got, and beyond I think! Also my friend Lauren's dream is to study math at MIT, so her dreams have just come true I think. Good looking out, man.

SCIENCE!
