I get emailed engineering info from a group called GlobalSpec. This came up in one of the newsletters. If it actually works it seems pretty phenomenal. Here's a link to a video from a trade show or something.

While I have not personally been visited, several people I know personally have been. Did you read the article on the G.A.L. site? As Harpo Marx said "Knowledge is power but ignorance is bliss". You seem to spew venom on a regular basis here. Perhaps you should get in better touch with yourself and ...

Just fyi, the gubmint is also after handmakers. A whole shitload of government agencies and regulations are involved including, of all things, Homeland Security (or is that Das Fathaland Security). Other agencies are U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, Customs, Animal ...

If you mean classes in tube electronics, it's because nobody really uses tubes anymore except in certain niches like big radio transmitters and RADAR installations. Almost all community college classes have classes in math for electronics and AC and DC circuit analysis. Also, N-channel JFETs behave ...

Not exactly... The plate resistance of the tube, the plate resistor, and the grid resistor of the next stage are effectively in paralell. This network is the plate circuit resistance. The cathode circuit consists of the cathode resistor in series with the cathode resistance which is basically the re...

Lowering the value of the plate resistors will actually slightly reduce the gain of a tube stage. Gain is dependent largely on the ratio of cathode circuit resistance to plate circuit resistance. There are a lot of factors involved (tranconductance, plate resistance at the operating point, resitance...

I think you will find that all pro and many consumer reel to reel machines use DC servo motors controlled by a phase locked loop to control the speed (capstan). This is what allows a tape machine to chase time code or have the transport speed varied by the ubiquitous vari-speed control that virtuall...

Watts Tube Audio at www.turretboards.com has various types of kits. I've never gotten any kits from him but I have used his generic turret boards on a lot of my projects and they are good quality. Maybe you can find something that would fit your needs there. He's reliable and has been in business fo...
