I will also add that I'm a big fan of Coil, although I don't know if they're considered Industrial. They are a degree separate from Throbbing Gristle.

It's kind of a wide subject and what is considered Industrial can sometimes be controversial. A quick answer that pops into my mind is Einsturzende Neubauten.

My least favorite studio lights are blue LEDs. My monitors have one and they're tiny but still somehow burn straight through my eyes. I had to cover them up.

Back when I ran macs (my newest mac is a G5, for reference) I never had any luck upgrading the OS past what came with the mac. Felt like planned obsolescence to me. A benefit to Apple for controlling hardware and OS at the same time. But maybe things are different now. Running a 2015 OS on 2010 har...

There's this SOS article about recording the title track.

No mention of "...Over" but it's an interesting read none the less.

I think it sounds pretty good. If I were picky I'd like there to be more horns but I also kinda skipped around a bit and maybe miss parts where they were better represented. Other than that everything it pretty well balanced. And the bass sounds fine. I suppose instead of a line out you could have s...

Just checking, the positive lobes are facing "west" right? Towards the drums? If so then, theoretically, it could work but it's so hard to say how it'd sound in the real world. Try it and listen back. Keep making adjustments and move the players to mix 'in the room'. You'll still probably have bass ...

What I did for awhile, with varying success, was to have several submixes ala Michael Brauer. More specifically, I'd have a kick/bass gtr bus that gets some compression and an everything else drums bus that gets an overall compressor which I suppose reacts the same as a comp with a low end filter. T...

The Scum wrote:Where's the endless slipperman tale of metal guitar when we need it?

Over here.

Print it and put it under your pillow. The screenplay is 100+ pages.
I instantly thought about Slipperman once I read the thread title.

Just to hijack the thread a bit I was curious about a stereo recording technique that I think I saw George Massenburg use in a video once. Essentially, it was a pair of small diaphragm mics (maybe km184s or something similar) set up as an XY pair but turned 90? than you'd expect. So one mic would be...
