Re: Famous records featuring the Stratocaster
I think Steve Malkmus used a strat on some Pavement stuff. There are some pretty Fenderey sounds on Crooked Rain and Wowee Zowee as I recall.

Oh heck yes. I saw him at his Vancouver show (as seen on the DVD). That wasn't even the funniest part.HBach wrote:Have you heard David Cross's Squagel bit? It's hilarious. To me.

Re: STUPIDEST BAND NAME YOU'VE EVER HEARD?
I recorded this 80s-style prog-metal band called 8-7 Central. Plus, they used to be called Boneshaker, but they changed it after they were on a bill with like two other bands with the word "bone" in their name.

Re: ARE U a Verse or Chorus guy??
This is an interesting topic! I don't really distinguish between verses and choruses and whatnot when I write songs, so I could say I'm not adept at either (ha, ha... ha). I get a melody in my head and sort of follow it along and hear where it wants to go. If a chunk sounds like it wants to be repea...

Re: More International Fallzzzzz
We're called International Falls simply because Megan (band/roommate) and I overhead it when we were thinking about names. For me it evokes an image of early-1900s businessmen earnestly tripping over suitcases. When Megan and I played as a duo recently we were either New England Egg or Nature's Pres...

Re: what does your mom and dad think?
My mom and dad are very supportive, especially considering that I switched my focus from school and psychology to music and recording. My mom helped me get a student loan so I could buy a 16-track, and I give my dad cds of new songs pretty frequently. I guess it helps that my band kind of sounds lik...

What's your budget? I used to use Mackie pres and getting an RNP was big big improvement for my recordings.

Karl Blau : The dark magic sea Yes, the Blau! What a great musician. I just recorded some stuff with Karl actually! It was parts of my band, parts of The Poison Dart, Phil from the Microphones, and two dudes from Seattle. We played some Karl songs, a Phil song and a Poison Dart song and I recorded ...

Yikes-- "Stock Answer" is a really cool song!! That bass synth is awesome. What is it? It's kind of Sh-101ish.

Bear's advice here is warm and punchy. I've never changed the strings on my acoustic guitar. While I've never been accused of being hi-fi, I'm really happy with my acoustic guitar recordings.

My friends got married last week and right after, we went to a "Taco-ria" or "Taco-teria" or something. I got like a fried tube of beans and cheese plus free nachos.
