i hope that means its a good thing i've never had a music lesson in my life  Seriously, i agree 100%. the thing that led me astray in your first post, was the statement that slang enabled one to "get by." But to flip that into what you just said, yeah, maybe "getting by" on slanging your six o...

I see it as kind of like speaking a language -- you can speak slang (rock, blues, etc), and get by and have a good time, even if you're not a theoretical master of the language. If people look down on you, fuck them. No offense man, i usu. enjoy reading your posts. BUT As a linguist (working on my ma...

which album is it again? S/T? haven't heard that one yet...my buddy produced All the Way Alive (which really means he just made the best possible digital transfer of a pretty crummy tape). It's available here and there still, limited edition though... Helter Skelter was a totally biased book. Everyt...

Except for Hoon, the band came from my area - as in, 20 miles from where i live. Everyone around here has some story about them, apparently the guitar players spent their entire adolescence locked in their rooms practicing. There's even a local shroom field that was supposedly the inspiration behind...

FWIW, when i record i'm usu only singing about drugs, not using them. But i've got some great outtakes...actually, i guess the outtakes kind of explain why i decided the two don't mix

thanks guys for bothering to read and reply. Yeah, left it alone for a week and it's taken care of itself. usual suspects, vox a bit too quiet and git a bit too loud, plus a slight notch out at 1k to let the bass pull the kit to the git. And of course, the sounds turned out to have some remaining ro...

what is this "tuning" you speak of? some type of hip new slang, as in "yeah, our band just spent six straight hours of practicing our tuning"?

sorry, had to get wiseass for a moment. when you play 30$ pawnshop prizes, all you can do is hope for the best

just theorizing here, but it seems like the kick mic would often be some degree out of phase, rather than completely out - for instance, if you've got overheads that are picking up some reasonable image of the kick, wouldn't they be 90 degrees out of phase from the kick mic? or more realistically, s...

Well, i'll be the first to admit my space is less than ideal - 12x20 with some DIY sound treatment. Nor are my monitors - a pair of 70s beasts, supplemented with two beatboxes, a boomy and a tinny, for comparison. Despite such equipment, i'm usually able to come up with mixes that translate decently...

My ears have been lying to me

Seriously, that?s the only explanation I?ve been able to come up with. I?ve been spending my spare time this summer tracking cover versions of the Ramones? first album. Some of their best tunes, IMO, not to mention that my newbie drumming abilities have been benefiting from those simple arrangements...
