I've begun to amass a decent collection of pedals (15 or so). I was thinking of building a case to display them and keep them safe. I was also thinking about portability and how I could solve that issue.
How do you guys keep your pedals, and how do you transport them?
Thanks,
Jcooke

I opened up with a friend for garth hudson from The Band. Backstage I got to see the tiny saxophone that he plays in The Last Waltz. I also got to give a very confused garth directions on how to get back stage(actually downstairs at Slim's), after he left the sound check. He looked left, right, then...

when DO you use a Sonic Maximizer?
Every post I've ever read bashes sonic maximizers. Who uses them, and for what? When do you feel that they become a problem?

For the pickup in my violin I'm using the L.R. Baggs transducer that is built into a bridge. They sell you the bridge and then you have someone install it. They shaved mine down to have it be the same size as the original bridge. Then a 1/4 inch plug is right next to the chin rest. Make sure it's in...

Any compressor is going to really help your sound. The MXR compressors go for about $50 on ebay and seem to have pretty good reviews. My friend loves his for guitar. This board has good things to say about the EH white finger compressor which is like the black finger but without tubes. My fender dev...

compressing violin
The violin sounds are HARSH. The lows can be really loud and the highs are really shrill and scratchy. The compressor makes it so that both of those things aren't so pronounced. I would NEVER play amplified without one. (Actually I have but it is HARSH!) Get a compressor. The Black Finger is pretty ...

my violin setup
I play violin in a rock band (Tom Petty, Neil Young, Wilco, etc.) I play through 2x12 Fender Deville. It sounds ok to my ears. The most important pieces of my rig though are an L.R. Baggs Paracoustic D.I. and an Electro-Harmonix Black Finger compressor. Violins sound SO much better with a compressor...

MIC STANDS: which ones and where to buy
I need to buy stands to record a drumset. I'm going to have 2 overheads, one condenser, one kick mic, and one snare mic. What stands should I get? I don't want cheap and crappy, but I'm not looking to break the bank either. Suggestions please. Jcooke P.S. I searched the message board and didn't see ...

BEST band you've heard of from TapeOp.
My favorite band I know from tapeOp is John Vanderslice. All of his albums have great songs with amazing production. Why isn't he more famous?

Thanks for the tip about my post. I guess I don't know much about any noise processing. I did just buy an Aphex 612 though on ebay after reading good things about it on this board. I know that is a gate, so I guess I'm interested in gate info. Thanks and sorry for my misuse of terminology. Jcooke P....

I have no experience with noise filters. What do you tape oppers use them for? What do they work poorly on? What is your preferred make and model of them?

Well, I ended up buying a 50 dB Manley dual mono mic pre off of ebay. It is supposedly mint. I guess in the end I couldn't justify spending the $3800+ for the Fearn VT-2, especially since the manley is supposedly more versatile. I ended up paying $1550 for the manley. Anyways, I hope that I get that...
