Thanks for everyone's advice.
Going to have to have a look under the hood. Maybe this is a pretty easy fix.

Some research I did seems to indicate that the increased noise and swooshing sound occurs when the MN3009 BB chip goes bad. Is replacing this chip as easy as simply pulling the old chip out and plugging a new one in? Is any soldering to the circuit board involved? I have not had a look inside the JX...

Not sure how noisy a 106 is, but I also have a Juno-60 here; the chorus on that is minimally noisy...when actually playing, I don't hear any noise at objectionable levels. On the JX, though, you can fairly clearly hear noise above the sound, especially because the noise is regularly pulsing/panning ...

Question for Roland JX-3P owners
Just picked up a JX-3P. You hear a lot about the "noisy" chorus function on this board...how noisy is this supposed to be, realistically? On mine, it is pretty prominent. When not playing any sounds, a fairly clear white-noise "swooshing" can be heard panning L to R. Even when playing sounds, the no...

Wanted: Roland JX-3P
Anyone in the NY area (ideally) have a Roland JX-3P synth in good shape for a reasonable price? If so, please PM.
Thanks a lot.

8-in interface advice
I was wondering if there are any affordable ($500-$600 range max) options for a ProTools-compatible interface that will do at least 8 simultaneous ins in one box.
Any user recommendations?
Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I am definitely going to try the battery thing. Good suggestion. And the correct PS is on the list, too. The hum is on the headphone out as well, yes. It's on all the audio outs from what I can tell. Yes, it does increase as the volume dial on the machine is raised. By th...
