That's a good point. I don't know why I went off on that rant except maybe that I wanted to iterate that solo'd instruments can sound really crappy, until you un-solo them and voila.

There shouldn't be a standard that exists in a vacuum, and what the drums sound like by themselves isn't really relevant unless the song itself contains a drums-only part.
