You're going to hear so much crap on this topic. a) Without an ABX test, there is no proof. I could give a damn about anyone's opinion without a blind test. Placebo in audio is EVERYWHERE, from the EQ you adjust in bypass/not patched in for 15 minutes to this. If it's not blind tested, ignore the o...

MP3 Quality, Can you hear the difference...Really?

Really? I'm going to importing my cd collection at 192kbps using itunes. Leaving aside pseudoscience, is there a real audible difference to be gained at a higher bit rate? Would these files be adequate to eq a room for live sound or test a new set of monitors?

bob lanois

I just did sound for his brother Bob Lanois. I didn't know what to expect given that it was only going to be Bob on Harmonica and a drummer. It's was very refreshing and and interesting night. Anyways, Daniel produced and recorded his record...

You just played the Underground. How was the show? I should have read this thread a couple days ago.

Thank you!! Thats what I was looking for. I own Waves 4 so I think I'm going to have to fork out some cash, but I'm going to hold off and see if I can make use of these free ones.

So I bought a new Macbook...

...and my Pro Tools and Wave bundle won't work. I was using a Windows machine in the studio, but I got fed up with it. So I've returned to Apple. I'll have to buy the PT 7.3 upgrade, but is there anyway to bypass paying Waves more money to use something I already bought? Failing that can you hook a ...

everyone should spend a little time here. http://www.skepticforum.com/ I've never posted, I'm scared to, but some of it is fascinating. A few cool audio points are made. Don't bring up the analog debate. Start here, and work your way the second page where "JJ"starts to get going. It's intense audio ...

also the "does it hold up in mono" thing Brian mentioned is way important!! The mix [balances, textures, relationships] should hold true in mono or stereo... the mix should not change radically. Best of luck with it. Might be a cop-out question. If I have a great stereo mix and check it in mono, an...

Re: Why does eq cause phase shift?

I've just recently started wrapping my head around this concept. Or actually just listening for it and being able to percieve it. But why exactly? I take it that this happens with both digital and analog eq. Any particular eq's that are particularly phase coherant? I seem to really be able to hear ...

I've run into this a handful of time and have tried the re-amp and many other fixes... but for the fastest most realistic solution I always come bace to sound replace and blend the new snare in with the shit one. I should run for cover now, but really, thats what its there for, to bail you out in a ...

Don't even care about the recording, this band slay's!

Well I sort of do. But really this band may be my fav in all of Canada. I was lucky enough to meet them early on and talk them into recording more then once. Recorded mostly live by Sean Pearson, Christian Mcmaster (dialer of great guitar tones) myself, and mastered by Ryan Mills (around this board ...
