Any touring soundguys/engineers working in the US legit?

I'm speaking of couse regarding non-citizens. Anyone from Canada know what is required to cross into the US for work for touring bands or for recording?

Re: At The Gates -Slaughter Of The Soul:perfect metal record

It's funny, i have a copy of St.Anger as a reference cd of "the worst sounding shit ever" sitting around. I have to make a point of telling bands if they notice it, that it's just there as a joke. It gets a laugh.

At The Gates -Slaughter Of The Soul:perfect metal recording?

Maybe. But check out the new Decibel mag for a killer interview with the band and Fredrik Nordstrom the engineer. It's been ten years. The kick drum was 20% Pantera Far Beyond Driven kick sample and the snare was 20% Reign in blood. Really cool interview from maybe the best current metal mag.

overrated benefits of tape kill the summing issue I don't know shit you're right.. you don't. nice of you to "engage in debates for the sake of debate with the fine people on this board." and make statements like the first 2 I quoted, BEFORE you admit that you don't know shit. again... like I've sa...

Re: dumping tape to tools

We are talking about 1/2" right? So what are the real benefits of 1/2", the ability to not worry about over's, the slight tape eq, and compression, the cool factor? Track the drums to the tape, dump to the 001 and overdub in pro tools. The A/D/A/D conversion should be enough to write off the over r...

Free UP UP Down Down EP, and a great recording

Really good band, really good recordings and a free ep

The singer runs Gradwell House and is turning out some great shit. There is a recording diary to go along with the free recording that gives away some cool tricks.

Go!

Re: buttholes of the day; MONSTER CABLE

Holy shit, this is unreal. Fucking assholes. We should all start "monster" related company's and get them running around trying to sue everyone. I'm starting one call "Monster loves to fuck pretty goats". It has nothing to do audio or video or anything related to "monster cables". Just a good old fa...

Oh shit, that said Quantegy closes its doors, my bad. For a second I thought the hard drive market was crashing and I started to panic. Oh well back to work.

Re: Micing guitar cabs - 2 mics = phase problems?

read this: first question - how does the amp sound in the room? you're fucked unless you all first agree that it sounds great before even putting up any mics. I might disagree with this if we are talking about close micing screaming loud guitar cabs. I'm starting to figure out that what sounds good...

Re: Micing guitar cabs - 2 mics = phase problems?

2 mics with the capsules lined up tight together about half way between the cone and the edge. Both mics, independent of each other sound pretty bad, but together, right of the bat are pretty full and usable. What about the Little Labs Phase Alignment Tool? I imagine that would rule. Why hasn't a co...

Re: Classic recordings that are out of tune

Helmet - Meantime

I never noticed it before a friend pointed it out this year. Now I only hear out of tune bass when I listen to it. Still great though.
