Portland home with nice studio space

I found this house her on the forum 12 years ago and bought it. Time to move on so it's on the market. I'd love to sell it to someone that would use the studio. Basement studio was well thought out. no parallel walls, heavy double doors, thick double control room windows, snakes wired through the wa...

My G5 had a SATA drive. I already transfered it to the Mac Pro as a 2nd HD. Everything is on that drive and accessible. I actually thought about upgrading the OS on that drive but it won't let me upgrade from the PPC OSX to Intel OSX. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an easier way to transfer...

Help - Upgrading from a G5 to Intel Quad core

So I just picked up a Mac Pro 3.0Ghz Quad core to replace my old G5 PPC. I know I'm going to have to upgrade from Pro Tools LE 7.4 to 8.0 or above. My main question is regarding all my plugins. I have quite a few free downloads in addition to many purchased. Is there an easy way to transfer these to...

Maybe they should put volume & tone controls on the CD/MP3/whatever player so that the listener can adjust the sound to his/her personal preference. Oh, wait, THEY DO! That's why you only need one GOOD mix. If the listener is too lazy to adjust the controls then they probably don't care how it sound...

Vote for Beyond Veronica

Hello everyone! I haven't posted here for a while but I'm always lurking to see what's going on. My band, Beyond Veronica, has made it into the final 10 bands in the 'Underground Garage' Girl-led battle of the bands. The top 3 bands will play the finals in Times Square - New York City and compete to...

I've been using an attenuator for years. I don't think I could live without one now. I've tried the Sholz Power Soak, THD Hotplate, the Marshall Power Brake, and the DR Z Airbrake (OK, I have the Trainwreck version but it's the same thing). The Airbrake is most definitely the best sounding of them a...

Is this a trick question? Next to modern convolution/emulation/infinitely tweakable reverb plug-ins that old Yamaha is basically a doorstop. The only practical use would be if you were using it FOR its limitations instead of in spite of them. Unfortunately I don't have any of the expensive convolut...

They both sound good but different. I guess I was really wondering if there was any technical advantage of one over the other as far as working with PT.
If I use the SPX the signal has to go through to go through the converters again. The plugin doesn't

Reverb plugin or SPX-90?

I've got an Yamaha SPX-90II digital reverb but running Pro tools.Would it be better to use a reverb plugin or run the signal out to the SPX-90 and back in to the DAW?
The plugin is obviously much easier to use but are there advantages to using the SPX?

Thanks

These are great organs. The sound of the '60s man. Nothing else sounds like it. I have the budget version - The Jaguar. It gets used all the time in my studio.

You can get most of the parts here:

Vintage Sennheiser MD421-N on E-bay

Rare old style script logo.
Comes with XLR adapter cord, mic stand adapter, and original case.
Small ding on grill but otherwise very good condition.
Excellent sounding mic but I need the money due to lay-off.

I have some traps that were given to me that are similar to what you want to do. They are basically made from 14" flexible ducting (like you use for your dryer but bigger) filled with pink insulation and covered with burlap. There is a heavy cardboard tube down the middle to keep it rigid. They seem...

Sennheiser 421 time-line

So I just got my first 421 off of craigslist. Its a white MD421-N with only one bass roll off position and proprietary cable. I know it's an old version but was wondering if anyone knew the years that this model might have been produced. I did a web search and found descriptions of the different mod...

I just wanted to get some suggestions on my specific situation. for specific suggestions, you should probably be making some sound measurements to determ...
