nice looking kit, billiam, what is that? it's a cheap tama drum set that a friend didn't want. i took it and stripped it down to the wood and me and a buddy of mine painted them. and i agree with you about the drummer having to be solid. i know a session is going to be tough as soon as everything i...

Re: What drummers should know when you are recording them

Also, what is the number one complaint you have with drummers when you try to record them? play the volume they will play when they're going to record. and learn to set up your drums so that it's easy to get a go...

Mike i can do that... but i'm trying to eliminate that and get everything in phase before starting so that i ca...

polarity question.. do they make this?
i use firepods when i record. i've been doing acoustic treatment (bass traps and absorption) and i got my recordings sounding good at the source before tracking. my problem is that i don't have anything to flip the polarities on channels that i need it (undersnare, kick, maybe a tom every once in a ...

Help in Dallas, who can help me measure my room frequencies.
I was wondering if there were any one in the Dallas (Richardson, Plano, Garland) area who'd be willing to come and spend time at my small home studio and help me measure what happening in my room. i'm sure (more) bass trapping will help solve any problems that i'm currently having but i'd like to se...

Re: Recording Jazz Big Band
I'm doing some recordings of a Jazz ensemble I teach specifically for a taped audition submission. I did one session already that included one LDC on the band, one LDC near the rhythm section, and then one out front for soloists. I want to preserve, as much as possible- the balance the group create...
