I have a Fostex G16 1/2inch 16 track recorder and I'm having problems calibrating it. I know it's operating level is 320 nWb/m and my MRL tape is 320 nWb/m referance flux (MRL cataloge 31J329: SPEED 15ips, EQ IEC-1, MULTIFREQUENCY @ 0db & -10db) All the tones EXCEPT 1K are -10db I am having problems...

cheep opto-compressors
I'm looking for an opto-compressor and I can not afford a LA-2A are there any other for less ( $1,000 and a lot lower )
I'd be willing to buy a cheap opto-compressor and modify it buy replacing componets etc...
thank's

Re: spheres for mikes (neumann M 50)
sounds kinda' like a parabolic mic but, I was talking about the sphere being built in/on the mic. think of a lolly pop with the diaphragm flush with the sphere's surface so that, when you look at it on axis the mic looks like an eye ball.

spheres for mikes (neumann M 50)
if you know about the neumann m 50 with it's 40mm sphere and the 12mm diaphragm built with in, you might be able to answer my question: if i make a slip on sphere for my mikes (similer to the Scheops) how would it change the polar patern. I know it's ment to be used with omni pressure transducers bu...

has any one used this microphone?
what dose it sound like? how much proximity effect? off axis coloration... etc.
how dose it compair to other mikes like the: Oktava 219/319, akg 414, u87, etc.
they're only $69 so, i think i might try one

TEAC 3340s 1/4inch 4 track for sale
I have one for sale. I use a Fostex G16 in my studio but, I like to use the TEAC for mobil recordings as It has 4 mic/line inputs with a basic mixer as well as 4 RCA inputs. This makes it easy to plug in 4 mikes and recored simple ideas/jams or, you can use a board and bus several mikes to the 4 tra...
