Re: 21st Century Stereo Mix Down Deck

You could just get a Zoom H1n and try it. It's a cheap solution.

I record the boys jamming and the house kit has fig8 ribbons spaced pair overheads default. I like the aforementioned nulls.

Re: Are the loudness wars over?

Radio is a main concern for me. I started an FM radio station. We get CDs from all over the USA. Production values vary. Loudness levels vary. The community that we serve appreciates the wide variety of both independent and corporate (classic rock, country, blues) music that is aired. Sibilance seem...

Are the loudness wars over?

Regarding "recent" recordings, I've heard some pretty wide open records in the past few years, but have also listened to some really loud ones as well. That being the case, I've noticed that the blues genre is a chronic offender of being "over loud". What are you finding with your clients or recordi...

Route drumkit to a limiter.
Route all backing vocals to a different limiter.
Route all electric guitars to a different limiter.
Route the entire mix to yet another limiter.
This can be accomplished quite easily in Harrison Mixbus.

One of my favorite things is to mic the beater side and the resonant side (if no hole) and hard pan them. It's like having your head inside the kick drum. In a good way.

Are Yamaha NS10s worth any money?

I'm curious if the notorious Yamaha NS10s and NS10Ms have a good resale value these days or how much people are paying these days for a pair with close serial numbers?
Thanks...

Re: Best vocal mic under 2K?

Since there is no right answer to this question, here's my insight. When I retired my location recording company, I wanted to get myself a vocal mic as an award for a job well done. After some soul searching, I decided to get a Shure KSM42. No regrets. Regarding the SM7B, I like it quite a bit, but ...
