Re: New Pro Tools, who dis? "FREEZE"
Back to "Freeze" and "Commit": 1. I use Commit A LOT for when I've used Auto Align 2 to fix drum phase - I want to use a lot more plug-in on these tracks after and the Delay Compensation can get overloaded. 2. I will use PT's Multiband Splitter feeding 4 Aux tracks, Commit (must be done in real tim...

Re: New Pro Tools, who dis? "FREEZE"
that site that I put a link to earlier in this thread has an email they send out maybe every week (or two?). It's not spammy, and while I'm not really looking for training (or at least not to pay for it  ), they often have a short, free video (or blog) on new features. I don't always read the ...

Re: New Pro Tools, who dis? "FREEZE"
I remember when I was shown "Import Session Data" around 2010... Fucking life changing. No more pages and pages of notes for what plugs where!!! THAT'S BEEN AROUND SINCE 2010!?!? jesus christ. I need to start looking at manuals. I just found out about that like a year ago. :high: I wish I got to se...

Re: Channel Strip Plugins
I don't gain stage like that, but as I said before I like the Slate VBC and it allows you to push levels into the plugin but it doesn't actually change the level coming out of the plugin... There are others like United Plugins FrontDAW that you can do that, but it also has in/out levels that can ch...

Re: Channel Strip Plugins
Channel strips channel strips channel strips... I'm now trying them out along with too many other new things with the new protools license and new computer... My mix procedures that I've been using for the last 10 years are all changing in so many places. It's exciting again, but also, so many areas...

Re: New Pro Tools, who dis? "FREEZE"
Playlists are great as well (but I think that came out with PT 10 or 11 maybe?). I use it when I'm doing drum tracks. I can do multiple takes (from the same starting point) and then I "expand alternates to new playlists" or something like that with the "match criteria" set to the starting point. th...

Re: Hotel Earth studio 1 build diary
Awesome... *looks at my 400 sq foot garage that has been in the works for 5 years, then looks over to the living room where my "temporary" studio has taken up half of the living room for 5 years... I'm thinking of doing something similar with my two booths, when they are built. Just refreshing the a...

Re: New Pro Tools, who dis? "FREEZE"
And clip gain (not sure if you can lock it) is really nice for getting vocals into a dynamic range where they can play nice with a compressor or other effects. Or bring an over-excitable drum hit back down a bit for the same kinda reason, without doing a bunch of automation on multiple tracks and b...

Re: New Pro Tools, who dis? "FREEZE"
It's nice. I use freeze pretty much how you described. Sometimes I find that certain plugins are cpu hogs and if I have that on a track, I will just "freeze" that track so that it's not consuming cpu cycles (from the plugins) so that my Aux busses can pig out themselves. Another thing is that now t...

Re: New Pro Tools, who dis? "FREEZE"
OH! and CLip Gain!!! WOW!
I need to look into if there is a way to "lock" the clip gain so I'm not accidentally changing it when doing edits.
