Pick someone to represent the band and handle any money you might make (not necessarily the same person). Make sure this person is trustworthy but also have a way to verify things, like post the books somewhere that everybody in the band can know what's going on if they want to.

I've noticed similar issues with URS rtas EQ's on aux channels crazy amounts of delay. I sent them an email about it and they said it sounded abnormal, but then i never heard anything else about how to fix it... so I just only use them on individual channels instead... I do remember reading in the m...

I had a grace 101 and a great river mp1 nv that i sold after i got the portico because i felt like the portico was so much cleaner than the 101 (without the silk switch) and sounded similar enough to the great river (with the silk switch) that I could use my funds for other things... Congrats on the...

It's not a wall wart, but it does have a power supply. You plug a regular IEC power cable into the supply and that plugs into the back of the portico. So it's grounded power and it doesn't eat up the real estate of a wall wart on your rack.

The 5012 is my go to pre for pretty much everything right now. The silk switch makes it sound incredibly different. The ISA 428 is also a really great pre. It has some great features and is a very deep sounding pre (my current favorite for recording kick drum) and is also very versatile. Plus it has...

I used one as my main touring amp for about 6 months... Actually i should say, I used about 4 of them for my main touring for about 6 months... because that's how many times I had to have it replaced when I'd get home from the road... only once was it a show stopper... but "only once" was enough for...

a few things to consider: a) Like it or not, most artists / clients often know only two words in studio gear: Neve and Neumann. That can help attract gigs for you. b) The resale value of a neumann will remain pretty consistent. m-audio gear plummets upon purchase. c) that's a crazy good deal for a n...

as long as all your tracks have the same starting point (might help to put a click in the beginning so they're easy to check alignment, then it should be fine. punch ins and edits would be a bit more difficult to get into protools, but the audio files themselves shouldn't be a problem at all if they...

I've learned that spending too much time on the computer reading about things takes away from time I can spend creating music and actually working (but i still do it anyway) I've learned that all the gear in the world isn't as good as a well played part on a nice sounding instrument. A great perform...

i got my pair for 1200 bucks a few years ago. For about 1000 bucks there are some other options worth considering. Adam and Dynaudio make speakers in the 1000 bucks a pair range. I haven't heard the adams yet, but they might be worth considering too... I preferred the 1030's to the $1000 dynaudios (...

I have a pair of them. I think they can sound really great. A little too great, sometimes. But like any pair of speakers, once you learn what they're about and how they translate, then they can be amazing. Words that are often used to describe them include bright, too good sounding, poofy and transp...
