I always used the Q, and I never complained....

Then I tried REQ. I use that all the time now. I find that it is punchier.

i have always usually heard it stated that components like caps will be the first to go.

if there are caps in the power section, then replace those, if there are some in the pre section then replace those.

make sure you can get a service diagram for anything that you buy.

caridoid, ORTF. No phase issues.

If you are a big fan of the "natural" sound of spaced omnis, then get a room with higher ceilings.

Feel free to ignore me and use your ears.

I appreciate the answers that are being provided. I understand the concept of using the mic's rejection to minimimize bleed.

I am more curious about where to physically position the amps in relation to the drums to help out too.

I will mos def be using some sort of gobo.

Thanks

How would I set up a bass amp such that it doesnt leak into the drum OH directionally. Should I line it up with the middle of the drumset? I know I can use a DI, then reamp, but I might not be using headphones (At the band's request). PS does anyone have any pics of the King's of Leon sessions. Thanx.

Setting up Amps for live recording

I am going to be doing a thrash punk band. I have never recorded live, and I want to give it a try.

I am well-versed at using a hyper-cardioid to reject sound, but I would like some tips on actually setting up the amps/players in the room.

Thanks very much.

Digital recording equipment can do a better job than CD or MP3 for capturing sound. The really really High Def stuff sounds much more accurate than a record to me. The DVD-A format (which AES is totally blowing right now IMO) can reproduce for the consumer INSANE fidelity (in surround no less). I st...
