where do I stick It? fire wire drive

MY powerbook only has one firewire port
and I am recording on a external drive
how should I hook it up? as in m-audio
1814 beetween the drive and computer
or drive between the interface and computer?

I have lots of experience with ssl's I even make computer by-pass
plugs for emergency situations. the desk will still operate
but you lose all computer funtions as well as group faders.

I'm in a pickle, what do you guys think is best with a digi002 to run 88.2k sample rates and mix in the box, to run 88.2 and use a 8 ch analog mixer, or 48k/44.1 with a 16ch mixer via the litepipe outputs? thanks so much. heres the next question, is it better to run 88.2k and mix in the box or a 8ch analog summing buss or use 48k and use the lite pipe outs to get 16 outs and mix analog? what kind of fiber optic "cable" does the digi 002 and other equipment
with the adat light pipe use? I hooked one up a long time ago but can't
remember what kind it was. and does this format support 88.2?

thanks for the usefull info on the central station looks like a winner I would like the neve 8816, but the station might work till I can talk them into it!!! what desk has a lock down talk back? out of all the consoles I have worked with and on, I have never seen one- and for a good reason!!. thanks...

but talk back button don't lock down for a reason!

thanks man, I don't know what digi was thinking? I like their software but this sucks, I am gonna have to use a open channel but I know its going to get left "open" during a great take and scew it up or a producer is gonna start talking smack and the artist is gonna hear! well one more reason to get...
