this is really neat man. I dig the harmonies.. they make the song really. There's things I like about both. The second mix is a little more cohesive sounding. Things jump out though. The printed reverb and flange are both kinda extreme I think. Maybe use a LITTLE TINY bit of compression to calm the...

Battery operated recorder

I have a Fostex MR-8HD, so when I decided to buy a battery operated recorder, I decided to buy an MR-8mkII. As I suspected, it operates almost exactly like the MR-8HD. So, no learning curve. So, this is a recording that I made sitting on my bed. The guitar(s) are direct input and the vocal(s) were m...

Mixdown Software

I would like to import the mono WAV files from my Fostex Multitracker into a program to do mixdowns on computer. The idea is to expand the number of tracks that I can record/mix without constantly buying bigger and bigger digital recorders. I like recording on a dedicated digital recorder and am not...

Software wise, I have been using the Sony CD Architect since it was a Sonic Foundry plug-in. It writes red book CDs perfectly every time for me. It's also easy to use and gives you a lot of features. Massive Mastering suggestions for drive type and media are right on the money. I found Sound Forge ...

If you're creating production masters for replication: ...You need a solid drive (I always suggest Plextor), quality media (Tayio Yuden is the defacto standard) and a way of checking the disc for compliancy (Block error rates, etc.). If you're making simple reference discs to listen to: What you ha...

Creating CD Masters

Can anyone out there suggest a CD-R drive and brand of media suitable for creating CD masters?

Also, I typically use Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator to burn my CD's. If I need different software to make CD masters, I'd appreciate a recommendation on that as well.

Thanks,
Butch

Try less verb. ...try slapback on guitar or the Background vocals. Give the bass a little more attack. Try the drums American.... Fix the F you hit on the keys on the E arpeggio when the bass comes in. Sorry I couldn't resist. I like youre voice. Try Dynamics and explore EQ. Thanks for the suggesti...

I downloaded the ZIP and was able to extract all the MP3 files, just fine. I downloaded it with my WinXP laptop and opened it with WinZip v.9.0.

My first request for critique

This is my first post to the "listen to my stuff" forum. I'm submitting a cover of "Unchained Melody" that I recorded for critique. Don't be too cruel to the musicians, their all "me". This is a one-man-band recording.

Steve Sadler at Blevins audio recommended a repair tech for MCI/Sony machines that's local to NYC, but I can't remember it. If you reach out to him (check the www.blevinsaudio.com page for contact info), he can probably tell you who it is. Good luck. = Justin Okay. I'll check into that, too. Thanks!

I like the Rode NT1A....
Like my mics, the preamp I use is inexpensive, too. I use a Berringer T1953 Tube Ultragain 2 channel preamp.
