Little Steven's Garage Rock fest
Hello, wondering if anyone else was in attendance at this event in NYC, and if so, am I crazy or was there occasional weird phase problems with the sound? Esp during the strokes' set, their guitars were cancelling each out. I only caught the last 5 hours or so and there's a lot one can say about it,...

Re: New York (or former New York) peeps peep this
As someone who was born here and still lives here, I would say the following: really, the reason to live here is the job market; there is a lot of businesses here, which makes for a large and wildly varied job market. That having been said, it can be competitive and one does have to be somewhat aggr...

Re: Dawn of The Dead VS 28 Days Later...
ah! the zombie rennaissance has officially begun! well, I am a diehard Romero fan so I didn't see the DOTD remake but I did see 28 days later and quite enjoyed it. The second half of 28 days is almost a tribute to Day of the dead , which I revisited recently and that movie also rocks. however, I am ...

Re: Mastering by Alan Douches
ditto for me--Alan is great! He brings recordings to the best possible level. More depth, more punch, the whole nine yards.
Worth the price, which is reasonable for what he's doing....

Re: Help! I need a recording/rehearsal monthly rental in NY
Hey, I've been looking somewhat for the same thing, albeit more for a rehearsal situation...currently my band and myself share a 140 sq feet space with TERRIBLE soundproofing...total cost of space? $625/month. And I'm gathering we are *lucky* to have this...we share with three other bands so it wind...

Re: There's A Riot Goin On: Best or Worst Mix Ever?
I wonder about these things, too. I like to think that Sly Stone and Roky made the conscious choice to do a very very heavy handed mix. Maybe a series of happy accidents? I like to think that was the origin of when the drums get all loud in the Who's I need you

Re: Does NYC's music scene suck?
yeah, NYC's heyday may have been 20-30 years ago. I would love to know what people who have toured think about playing in NYC. I know that when I've gone on short tours (just been down south as far as Athens, GA and back), the experience of playing a show seems to get more pleasant in direct proport...

We also have bats in the space. They like to come out late at night and fly around during sessions. They are particularly attracted to the sound of organs. i've only told my story once....and frankly, i wish it had never happened to me.......it took 4 years for me to even re-tell it the one time i ...

Re: Does NYC's music scene suck?
it may indeed suck. Being a musician here is awfully thankless and expensive. And although there are supposed to be these great bands from NYC (yeahyeahyeahs, Oneida, interpol) why is it that they do not wow me? I mean they're good...but so is my band that has been toiling in relative obscurity for ...

Re: Shure Beta 52 vs. Shure Beta 52A
here is what Shure said in their response to me email: That would be unusual, the BETA52A's have quite a high output level. It's higher than most other dynamic mics. There's no audio difference's between the 52's and 52A versions, only change was in the way the mounting bracket tightens. If you thin...
