This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Its a fairly big space for a control room and this isn't the only treatment the room is going to get. I'm going to spend a good amount of time reading up on diffusion in order to work it in with my idea (not really MY idea but ehh). I guess I don't want to admi...

AAAAHHHH but it looks so awesome! How about some kind of combination of the real thing and a bookshelf? I know I know I'm just being stubborn. I guess I'm just trying to do something a bit different. I don't really like the way typical acoustic treatment looks. Anyone have any other suggestions on o...

DIY Omnifusor/Bookshelf
We are in bad need of some acoustic treatment in our newly setup control room. The room Is actually a 2 car garage with an 8ft ceiling. I figured I'd start with an omnifusor In the back wall facing the monitors. I saw this pic on a kids Myspace. Its at Q Division Studios in Boston: http://i46.photob...

I picked up an 888/24 on craigslist today for $300 bucks flat with the cable. So to re-cap: $710 [ebay] TDM MIX PLUS (Mic Core, Mix Farm, NODE cable, 6.4 software with authorization and some rad plug-ins) $600 G4 dual 1.25 with a gig of ram on OS 10.3.9 and a 23" cinema display. $300 888/24 with cab...

What is the difference in the actual cards? I see some auctions where people say they are not the "Mix" cards. So to recap, In order to put together a 24 i/o mix system i need: tdm core card (d24?) tdm farm card x2 (dsp cards to hook up 2 more interfaces to?) ribbon cable to link cards 50 pin i/o ca...

well im not really worried too much about the plug ins right now. I know people sell those really cheap on craigslist and ebay all the time. We're talking bundles of plug-ins that were worth thousands only 5 years ago. I'm mainly concerned with the i/o expansion you can't get with the 002/003. Also ...

great discussion! I've been debating moving from a 002 to an older mix system for a while now. I always see the deals on ebay for full turnkey systems for about 5k. The problem is that a lot of times they come with things I don't really need. Like midi interfaces and stuff. Things like that I know w...

Powering headphones
I set up my studio a few months ago and am having trouble understanding exactly how the pros set up headphone power and distribution. I have an amek matchless console. I use the auxilaries on the board to do the foldback mixes for the artists in the live room. not sure how I was supposed to power he...

Renting outboard gear
Im mixing this weekend and I thought i'd go down to audiorents (www.audiorents.com) in hollywood and rent some outboard gear to try out. Im going to be mixing 2 songs for a band that sounds kind of like wilco meets the flaming lips meets my morning jacket. (awsome combo I know!) Anyway I don't have ...

I don't have too much past experience with straight a/d d/a converters such as the tango. I can tell you it sounds significantly different than the converters on the 002 which I find pretty descent to begin with. I really like that it is a simple single rack space design that does nothing but conver...

i'm not using any outboard pre's at the moment. The console is the longframe 36 channel configuration. Well the whole thing with the in-line is that I come from using an SSL 4000g that has the "in-line" fader. I was under the impression that the amek had similar capabilities. thus the ability to mon...

Amek Matchless signal flow
Hi there, I picked up an Amek/TAC Matchless some time ago and just recently began using it. At the moment I am only using it through the direct outs of the first 16 channels into my 002 and my frontier tango 24. I know this board has an in-line design and I would like to use it. I want to setup a co...
