Gaining FOH Clarity in Large Auditorium- Thoughts?
So folks, Your thoughts and tips would be greatly appreciated on the above mentioned setting. To clarify, I am the lead on a team of volunteer FOH engineers (yes I know, bad start) for a church and the room that is used is in a school auditorium. Naturally the problem I'm facing, aside from lack of ...

Tascam FW1884
Looking to purchase a Tascam FW1884. Being that they are discontinued I assume it will be used so I require that it be in proper working order with blemishes being acceptible if they only affect the unit aestechically, would prefer it come from a smoke free environment and have all it necessary cabl...

They do have some ripples, folds, flaking so I guess it was the inconsistency in the tapes themselves that was ultimately causing the problem. Wouldn't tapes circa 1948 be made from whale blubber, and therefore not flake? I'm no expert on this; I first became intrigued with this idea when I read th...

Speaking of The Beatles, who was allowed to apply, to varying degrees, a Chorus effect on nearly every song of the DVD release of A Hard Day's Night. I just can't get it past my head that someone or someone's re-mixed those recordings for the DVD release, worked their apprentice level magic and said...

Thank you one and all. The tapes are ex ceptionally old, some date to 1948. They do have some ripples, folds, flaking so I guess it was the inconsistency in the tapes themselves that was ultimately causing the problem. I did decide to make a few passes and just edit the bits together to make a compl...

Tape Drop-Out (but inconsistently)
Good morning all, I'm wondering if perhaps someone could shed some light on an issue I'm facing with analog to digital transfers I've been doing of late. I have a client that has reel upon reel of recordings varying in their content and quality. Some/most are recordings from her husbands years with ...

Alright folks, here goes my list (I'll try to be chronological). The Beatles - Every single album. I cannot recall a time I did not hear their music as my parents raised me on a solid aural diet of Beatles, Classical music (esp. Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin), traditional Irish folk tunes/drinking song...

landline to voicemail/internet
I have a question for you all regarding voice messages. My father-in-law was mentioning yesterday that he has a voice message from his now deceased father on his land line voice mailbox and, as he will be moving very soon, wants to know if there is a way to record the message onto disc. I'm certain ...

most public schools within the last 10 years have started doing away with the arts and even recess/physical activity, especially in larger metro public schools. Well of course, apparently that's what this country needs. We don't need kids engaging their imaginations and developing their bodies to b...

Organ placement
Drummer directly across from the bass player, and the guitar players directly across from each other. any thoughts on where to put the organ in this configuration? Next to one of the guitar players but depending on how loud the keys are/are not I wouldn't face the amp towards the drummer. To go bac...

LG I have produced two albums in a similar room (both in size and treatment though it has vaulted ceilings) and I have found that what works best for overall sound and band connection/performance is to place every body in corners facing each other. Drummer directly across from the bass player, and t...
