SocialEQ - teach us a word, and we'll make it into a tool
Dear community, SocialEQ is a research project to learn the meaning of sound adjectives that relate to equalization. We'd like you to teach us a word to describe sound (for example, a ?warm? sound). We?ll ask you to rate some examples (?How ?warm? is this?"), and when we think we understand your wor...

Re: Elektron Monomachine
the monomachine is just software emulation of the sid... it doesn't have a sid chip in it.... so, it supposedly doesn't have that characteristic noise, charm, and slight bit of underlying chaos that the sid has caused by its poor design (poor but wonderful).

Re: i love noise
what's your favorite color of noise? mine's brown noise. it's just so warm and fuzzy. I'm also a fan of bluish noise. White's too bland though.... and pink seems like just a teaser for brown. mmm... i think i'm going to put some brown noise through a slowly modulated VCA, curl up in bed and take a n...

diy drum trigger for pc1600x
so, I have a peavey pc1600x midi controller. in addition to its 16 faders it has 2 CV inputs, which it converts to MIDI. i've only seen these used for footpedals, but i'd like to build a couple of drum triggers for these CV inputs so my drummer can trigger some samples. i figure i can use a contact ...

Re: How do I know what Radio Shack stuff to snag?
The Peizo buzzer has two wires. Connect these to the Tip and Ring of a TS 1/4" plug. Swap the Tip and Ring wires to change the polarity/phase of the buzzer. You could probably connect it to an XLR or TRS jack and let the Sleeve/Shield float for slightly better semi-balanced operatio anyone know how...

pierced 20/20 woofer
So, I'm not sure it happened... maybe while i was moving or something, but somehow I managed to put a small (1/4 inch) slit in the cone of my Event 20/20's woofer right near the dustcap. Most of the time it's not that noticeable... only on strong drum hits can you hear it stick out. Is there anyway ...

Re: weird mike distortion for live gigs
speaking of the double mic on stage thing... I saw The Polyphonic Spree a few months ago at the Metro in Chicago and for his "weird" mic Tim DeLaughter was using a strange looking mic that was a horizontal brass cylinder... anyone know what kind of mic that is?

Re: any dave smith evolver users?
i've had one for about 3 weeks so far and absolutely love it... but then again it is my first hardware synth (before my evo, i used mostly reaktor), so I don't have much hands on experience with other synths to compare it to. I can tell you though that you can create some beautifully trashy, noisy f...
