Thoughts on recording this violin & guitar ensemble?

http://www.theforgetmenots.com/video.htm

They want to record live. Give me some suggestions for arranging them in the room and micing them up.

I like the Avenson STO2's for overheads on loud thrashy rock - they are not bright and give a lot of the room sound too. They are similar to test mics and are omni.

Thanks Chris, One more question please. I was talking to Carl Saff (Mastering engineer) who has one in the metal cabinet and he says the electronics in the preamp/vu area are really easy to get to for adjusting the pots & bias, etc. With the Russ Lang cabinet, would this become inconvenient or would...

Chris, I've located a 1/2" JH110 that I can have delivered free of charge. DO you have an opinion on the practicality/desirability or valuation aspects of a Russ Lang Cabinet VS. a metal cabinet for JH110's? I know you are familiar with both. Also, for a 2 track do you recommend a Dolby SR system? W...

Check THIS! On the back of the A7 there are 3 rubber plugs hiding small adjustment screws that really change the sound. They seem to have been factory set and there's no explanation in the manual of specifically what they do. It seems they would want to user to know. (These are in addition to the 3 ...

I like to use 2 mics on the top horn at 45 degree angles to each other - that is one in the front and one on the side of the cabinet and hard pan them. Be sure to get them equidistant to the horn as it is pointed toward each of them. Like Garges said it sounds twice as fast if they are at 90 degrees...

Well, the only one I've used out of all these under discussion is the Grace. I can't comment on any of the others - But I have an older model Grace 101 with high gain for ribbon. The Grace is wonderful when you want a transparent sound. I think very accurate, detailed, uncolored, honest and QUIET - ...

Yes, I've seen the ATR website - nice...mmm, but I don't have $30,000 to invest in a 2" 8 track. I am in the $2,000 price range with my shopping.

There has to be someone out there with what I'm after
