o-port?

Has anybody heard about this product before?

Is this snake oil? I can't find much of an explanation on how it works, which makes me suspicious.

electric guitar help

I am recording my guitar (fender mexi strat) into my amp (Marshall JCM 2000 1x12) and I am just. not. getting the sounds I want. I have tried different mics (421, 57, i5, a few others), placements, amp settings, checking for phase. While some attempts are better than others, everything comes out sou...

I don't think it's a drive issue because I've had the problem mid-session before and solved it by unplugging and replugging my mbox. I'll have to try re-install PT and drivers.

I have actually had the same exact problem on my Mbox (original). Usually unplugging and replugging solves it. But it really sucks when it happens.

improving imaging

Any suggestions for improving the stereo image in my space? I have diffusors (bookshelfs and Auralex) behind me but no treatment behind the monitors. Would adding some Auralex there help? Any other ideas appreciated.

I was trying to distinguish between this and this.. Originally I thought Dave was referring to the former, but now I see it was the latter.

Actually I did mic it. Omni condenser under the bridge and a d112 on the f-hole about a foot away. In trying to EQ the room sound I may have taken out some of fret clicks. cooters -- thanks for opinion. I did want to bump the low end more but I was having trouble doing that without making it too boo...

I don't know about the blue kickball but I preferred the red kickball over the d112 the last time I recorded kick drum.

first shot at upright

This is my first attempt at recording an upright bass (really, recording much of anything). I am mostly looking for feedback on the bass as it's on loan and I will have to return it soon. The other instruments are scratch tracks to give some context to the overall mix. What do you like? What do you...

I noticed on the WikiRecording page for Mid-Side it says that The "Side" microphone must be a figure-8 microphone, and should normally be as closely matched as possible to the Mid. How important is it to have matching mics? What will happen if I have two mics that don't really match (say, a Nady Rib...
