Releasing a record
Hello all. Not sure where I should post this so if it is in the wrong spot then I apologize in advance. Currently, a close friend and I are working on recording a hardcore punk EP. I am super stoked about this project and it has become my personal favorite project of all the ones I have ever done. W...

A question regarding mastering.
Hello all. I have a question that may be silly but I was hoping that you could help me. I am going to be recoring a record on an analog tape machine and mixing down to tape as well. The goal is to record, mix, and master in an all analog format. I am wanting to press vinyl records when the project i...

your thoughts on ibanez ts5 tube screamer and boss chorus?
Hello all. A friend of mine recently just quit playing guitar and earlier today he gave me his Ibanez soundtank ts5 tube screamer and a Boss ch-1 super chorus. :D Anyway I was just wondering what the general consesus was on these two pedals. Love 'em? Hate 'em? And is this version of the tube scream...

Speakers for guitar cab?
Hello all, I have been thinking of getting a g112 cab from Avatar Speakers. I was thinking of either getting it loaded with either a celestion vintage 30 or perhaps a celestion classic lead 80. From what i have read about there two drivers is that the v30 is a bit "dirtier" where the lead 80 is "cle...

hmmm, I have seriously been considering one of these due to the excellent reputation they have received on this forum. However after reading this thread it is becoming a scarier option. There seems to be 2 camps around the hum debate, design flaw and user error. From what I have read on here t seems...

Cool, thanks for all of the great information all. :D Well I suppose I won't stress about "zapping" any of my mics anymore. There hasn't been a problem so far but I didn't know if there were any long term issues. ...........btw is it just me or does an sm57 sound a bit better when it does have phant...

I want to hear YOUR work....where can I find it.........
Hello all, I wasn't sure where to post this but I figured here would be a good spot. As I lurk around Tomb I see that quite a few people on here have commercial studios and I am very interested in hearing your work. My question is : What records have you worked on (engineering, producing, or mixing) ...

Phantom power on "regular" mics?
Hello all. I have sort of a noob question for all of you. My board does not have selectable phantom power (all 16 channels or none) I have been recording with a Rode nt1 and using my sm57 or sm58 along with it, also zapping them with the phantom power. Will this cause any damage/harm in the long run...

Bypass 424mkiii pre's?
Hello all, this may be a silly question but is there a way to bypass the pres on a Tascam 424 MKIII? I am asking because I want to use the pre amps in my board (Ramsa wr-8816) to send the sound to the tascam, then route the signal back out to my board for mixdown as well. I am bascially wanting to j...
