I'm starting to suspect my USB drive is just screwed up, but more importantly this whole thing proves I need to test my Pro Tools rig at home more thoroughly. Two years of constant Cubase use and I'm very familiar with the stability of my system, but now the whole thing feels... different. Luckily a...

Also, can anyone explain to me why Pro Tools crashes sporadically when I have my USB drive plugged into the computer? I had heard old wives tales about PT hating to have external hard drives plugged in, but this seems a little ridiculous. I can't confirm that this is the problem, but it sure seems l...

Just resolved a serious issue that I thought I'd share: I had "Minimize Additional I/O Latency" set in my Playback Engine preferences and it was forcing my Saffire Liquid 56 down to 64 samples. This explained why my Ableton Live sessions were overloading much faster than I'm used to, but more import...

Re: Cubase 6 is here
I would have been way more interested in this before Pro Tools 9 came out and fixed all the crap that bothered me about Pro Tools. Now, I'm pretty meh about it. I may still upgrade at some point because the upgrade price is really reasonable. Thanks for the heads up! Exact same boat. This was kind ...

Focusrite VRM -- anyone try this tech out yet?
I've been aware of Focusrite's VRM tech for a while, since it's been in the Pro24DSP, and I'm curious if anyone has given it a shot yet? All the reviews I've read of it are brief but positive, and I'm curious if anyone has actually needed to use it long-term. I'm interested in this tech for two reas...

I've had Guitar Rig (3 then 4) for a while now and used it mostly as a destruction plugin -- but I had my Eureka moment with it last week. Had to do a late-night scratch tracking session in my house and the amp we were using on the session was too loud, so I had my artist just go direct and fired up...

Yes it would be better to have no protection at all for the consumer, but lets face it: people will steal software if given the chance. As long as there are cracked versions of the software existing, any copy protection measures will only server to frustrate the customer who bought it legally inste...

Yep. I just fixed a drive last night that had this exact same problem. Worked right before I read this thread and when I tried to open it, it claimed it was not formated. The solution: Start ----> Run ----> type " chkdsk E: /r " (no quotes) where "E" is the letter of the drive you're having issues ...

[SNIP] The best license systems I've seen so far are Ableton's and Native Instruments -- they seem to do a reasonably good job of stopping piracy without getting in my way and without me carrying around additional hardware. Yes it would be better to have no protection at all for the consumer, but l...

Are they really providing you with new permanent licenses? That's good if it's true, since PACE claims they will not provide permanent licenses for lost or stolen iLoks. And while I'm not a proponent of the iLok system, since it is an offline authorization system that is designed to "just work" in a...

Did a little research and Focusrite may have something that might work. http://www.focusrite.com/us/protools9 The other work arounds I found sounded kinda like a PITA and didn't totally cure the problem. That looks good, a blend knob. If anyone has one of these, let us know how it goes. Is the audi...
