Sounds like I need to give this thing a shot out of a good reproduction medium (PA or powered monitor). I sort of wrote off the quality of the piano sound due to the lack of sound board and stage pedigree -- I need to spend more time with it and figure out what its capabilities are before I judge it...

Awesome feedback everyone, thanks! Been meaning to pick up a Pathfinder for the studio for forever -- I'm assuming you all are talking about the 15R (single 8" speaker) and not the Pathfinder 10 Bass (2x5" speakers). I'll pick one of those up in the next week or so once I know which one is preferred...

I've got access to a Twin and that was going to be next on my list -- my instincts were saying Fender-type (bassman / deluxe / twin / whatever). I've got a Showman bottom floating around somewhere that I suspect would sound nice. The trouble is, I don't know what I'm going for. In a studio, the pian...

Yamaha CP70 -- PIANO amps??

Our studio just took in a Yamaha CP70 (believe it's a CP70B, due to the XLR outputs) and I had a tuner come out on Friday and get it dialed in. It's a little worn around the edges, but the electronics and mechanics seem to be totally in order -- it fits with our vibe and a couple of my artists are p...

I'm not sure about the refreshed Minis and Airs, but there's no reason why Snow Leopard wouldn't run on your MBP -- my 2011 MBP came with Snow Leopard and I upgraded to Lion. Just a thought, in case you do start to run into more trouble down the road.

Glad to hear you had success. I think at this point I've resolved all my Lion-related issues. Had some trouble with Ableton Live over the weekend, but a patch solved that. Even iLok.com seems to work. Still wouldn't recommend it go on anyone's studio computer, but I'm pretty happy with the update ov...

Just spent the day with Lion doing audio-related tasks. Here are some things I've discovered: Maschine -- seem to work just as well as it did in 10.6 and below. I have issues with Maschine crashing on OSX when dialog boxes pop up inside plugins that Maschine is hosting, but I had this problem before...

OSX Lion -- Out Now For the Brave -- Discuss!

In this thread, we talk about OSX Lion. Mostly geared at the brave few who upgraded way before we should have. I upgraded my home-rig, which has gotten pretty basic so far. Haven't had much of an oppurtunitity to test yet. Things that are broken so far: - My Western Digital Mybook Live that I was us...

Mr. Bluesky -- Bluesky EXO2 vs. Mediadesk II

Hi Tape-oppers, Anyone have any experience with Bluesky's EXO2 or Mediadesk II systems? I've recently moved to a small apartment and moved my studio facilities to a dedicated space, but I'm trying to maintain a minimalist home-rig in my tiny bedroom to get a little work done when I don't want to tre...

Nice!! did you get the i5 or i7 processor? I'd love to hear how this baby fares when recording 8-10 tracks at once, and mixing with a higher track count and multiple plugins. As I understand it, though, plugins are more RAM taxing than CPU taxing, so in theory having 6GB-8GB should call for a prett...

Just got my new 15" Macbook Pro yesterday. Haven't been able to battle test it for audio stuff yet but my initial impressions are this is far and away the fastest computer I've ever used. I know that sounds crazy, but I swear it's true. Even with this piddly 5400rpm hard drive Pro Tools launches fas...

I'm having trouble finding the quad-core option for the T series on the Lenovo website. Am I just snowblind? Assuming that there is one, it is certainly a phenomenal deal and I'm sure you would be very satisfied with it. That being said, I put in an order for a 2.0ghz 15" MBP today. I want a powered...

Yeah I'm hearing some rumblings around about turbo boost and heat issues -- however, Anandtech did a whole breakdown of the systems and didn't find any issues. I'm not saying that there might not be a problem, but I'd trust Anandtech over the computer wizards at SOS. Hopefully I'm not getting a lemon!

Next week I'm going to buy my very first Mac ever, a 15" MPB (2.0ghz version with the glossy hi-res screen). I did a lot of research and there just aren't a lot of PCs that are competing with the MPB right now. It's one of the fastest laptops you can get anywhere, it's sleek and light, it's one of t...
