It all depends on the mileage. I don?t have a lot of experience doing this, just 3 records under my belt, a lot of demos, and stuff. A week ago I noticed that I mixed a song in 4 hours, I was surprised because I got the feeling I made it faster compared to what I?ve done a year ago. I think mixing i...

ALso, removing the front head, again this is all my opinion, tends to dead out the drum and remove alot of the sound of the "air" moving, So i would just try to get the kid to have a hole in his drum. Chris The air inside needs to get out, I think, otherwise you will get a boom sound. Micing the be...

I?ll say remove the front head, play the kick and record it with both mics. Then compare which sound will serve you better.
Hope it helps

Wow!, it?s good to know other people experience. I was trying to figure out how to bring bands into my project studio, and finally I found this thread. I always said to myself I have to go to gigs and see bands, get close to them and be part of a circle. Try to work with band?s budget, it?s another ...

I?ve made myself a pair of stands from PVC, wood and sand. Both are heavy enough to carry speaker weight.

A/C could do the job too. It all depends how fresh is your basement. Fresh air needs to get into to deshumidify your room, that?s why an a/c unit will help.

For me stop tweaking a mix depends on how much I like the music I?m mixing.
In the end I think it all starts when you press rec. Good recorded tracks will be mixed by themselves.

Monitor placement

Hi, I?ve been searching in different forums but can?t find the answer. I?m working on my new 1 room studio, the question I have is where to place the console and monitors. I have a drawing of what I?m planning to do, but if you look the placement is not against the wall. Is this correct??. If not, w...

Alfonso, > Width: 13 ft > Lenght: 16 ft > Height: 8 ft Sure, that's okay. Not great because the length and height are 2-to-1. But it's okay, and better than the 8 by 10 by 8 feet bedrooms a lot of people use. --Ethan Thanks Ethan, just two more questions. Is this "false floor" absolutely necessary?...
