Basic equipment for TV audio?

Hi, I might have a few opportunities coming up to do some work doing audio on a TV shoot or two. Many of these jobs seem to be dependent on me having my own equipment. While I do have quite a bit of gear, I'm curious what a bare bones kit for doing location sound would be from the perspective of peo...

McCurdy AT240 & AT242 mic pres

Hi, I've stumbled upon a box of plugin mic pre modules from an old McCurdy console. There are 4 AT240 and 4 AT242 modules. I'm wondering if any of y'all have any experience with these modules and could advise me as to their sound quality/value. Both the AT 240 and AT242 have hammond input xformers, ...

Perhaps OT: blank digipaks?

Hi,

A friend of mine is trying to source blank Digipaks for a record his band is putting out. I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for them other than Discmakers.

I think they'd ideally want kraft brown blanks, but white would probably work as well.

thanks!

I think the studio has been really busy for the last few years, so I would be surprised if he's had time to keep the Skibbetronics thing going. Bill Skibbe rules, though.

Have you had any luck with yours? I was intriqued after reading your post, so I picked one up on eBay today for $25. I'm interested to hear if you've used it for anything yet.

I'm not sure what a used Charvel Surfcaster sells for these days, but one of the single coil versions of those might be a decent alternative. Someone is making a limited series of Surfcaster RIs called Kokocasters. I've always had a soft spot for those guitars.

Re: AC30 questions

What is the impedance of your cab? I will preface this by saying that while I'm pretty well-versed in Fender amps, I'm no vox expert. However, all of the old Fender amps and many others had over-spec'ed output transformers that would accept a 100% mismatch in impedance either direction. You will of...

AC30 questions

Hi all, A few questions concerning my AC30... 1) Is it possible to add an additional speaker output jack to this fella? Will the OT accept multiple taps? I greatly prefer the sound of my marshall 4x12 to the stock greenbacks, but it would be nice to be able to run all 6 speakers at once. 2) Just how...

You might want to check out dovebid.com from time-to-time. They are an online asset liquidation place; when Enron went under, they were selling Aerons by the gross.

I'm reviving this thread in lieu of creating more clutter... So the new body for this guitar came in the mail yesterday. It's a sunburst '66 Jazzmaster body in really decent shape. Nothing's been routed or carved or otherwise brutalized, so I think I scored a ridiculous deal on this. Hopefully, I'll...

The Jazzmaster is/was a full scale guitar - it had the same neck as a Strat.

There are actually a pair of RI Jazzmaster necks (one MIJ and one CIJ) on eBay right now, so I guess I'll try my luck with one of those.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll keep my eyes open for a decent MIJ neck. It's nice to have the guitar back after a few years. I bought it when I was playing/touring more as a back up to my main guitar. It's a total frankenstein: '90s MIJ reissue body, a really nice warmoth neck, and the hardware, p...
