Strap it for 600 ohms, as shown on page 4, fig 6. Add a snip of wire between terminals 2 and 3. Than add a 604 ohm resistor, and hang it between the hot and cold outputs(pins 1 & 4) to load the output transformer properly. quick question.. just to clarify. I just screw in a 'normal' 604 ohm carbon ...

I'm unsure about this.. but here's what I'm trying to do basically. I want to make a short 2 ft TRS Lead for an Altec 1592B Preamp. I got an old one from a friend's basement, he basically said i can have it. So far, I wired up a 2 conductor mogami mic cable to a Neutik TRS plug and on the correspond...

Stupid Mic Pre-amp Output impedance question.
Ok.. here's my question! If I have a choice of either wiring my Mic pre-amp's output at either: (A) 150 Ohm or (B) 600 Ohm resistance, which should I be using Note: it's a TRS balanced lead connection going to a line input of my DIGI 002R. Which one should I be using? I'm feeling stupid at the momen...

Re: iPhone RFI in the Studio Problems?
Are other folks having problems with the iPhone making all kinds of racket over their analog gear? We had one in the back of the room, at least 10-15 feet from the nearest wiring or gear, and it would make that cell phone buzzing noise all the time. Be wary of the damn things! Larry, you might find...

So, I measured and did a bit of research into the actual diameter of the altec. it's actually a bit smaller than 20mm KM81 clip. it's width, approx. 17.5 mm. so I guess that while the 20 millimeter clip will fit it.. but not as snug or tightly. I guess, 17 or 18mm clip might be the way to go? (other...

Re: how to make a RESLO to XLR Lead?
I have a vintage figure 8 reslo ribbon mic from the 60's. the ribbon and dynamic element is intact and in great shape. also the swivel and clip, fine.. my problem.. I have no idea how to make a "RESLO connector" to XLR Lead adaptor cable.. a 2-3ft breakout cable would be key.. any ideas or suggesti...

It's also possible you have an adapter for a radio mic swivel arm, which I believe are different from standard mic stand threads. Just considering the re20 is mainly a radio industry mic. I think you might be right.. it doesn't look aftermarket.. looks normal except for larger diameter threading! I...
