I'm not a huge fan of Reason, but I use it because it's all I have. That being said, I think it can still be used to get a semi-realistic effect. Take a listen to this session: http://www.myspace.com/pianowiremusic On "Doesn't Matter to Me" all the piano and most of the strings are Reason patches. W...

I've had to do this on my 80-8 and it is extremely easy. Take the right side panel off. You'll see where the motor shaft enters the hub. Spin the hub until you see a small recessed allen plug (looking in from the side access) that you can barely get to. Loosen that a turn or two and the hub will sli...

i know i found the manual online a year ago. Don't remember where though, I'm sure it's not that hard to grab. Calibrating is a little harder than just twisting a bias pot with a screwdriver. You'll need to take a little time to read it through and you might need a Teac card extender, which are next...

I've always had good luck with recording guitars, mostly because I keep it really simple. I always use tube amps and almost always max out the eq section or keep it flat on the amp. Then, I'll change the guitar to get the sound I want. It sounds like you like the thinner type Strat sound, so i would...

Rewire - Pro Tools Routing. What am I missing?
I have MIDI tracked in Pro Tools and I am sending it to Reason Adapted and returning it via Rewire to a new, armed audio track in PT. For some reason I am getting sync problems, it sounds like the returning (samples from Reason) audio is about 3 seconds behind. What am I missing? Here's the setup: P...

VS2480 or Digi002 Converters?
I've got drum tracks on a reel of 8 track 1/2" that I need to go into PT. Which A/D converters do you think are better? The ones on the Roland VS2480 or the digi002 (no Black Lion mod)?
I was leaning toward the Roland for sound, 002 for ease of conversion. What do you guys think?

I would try both. You can find Digi002 racks on craigslist or eBay cheap and download LE 7.4 on Digidesign's website. I also have a couple of 80-8's that are between repairs. (aren't they always?) Nothing compares to the sound of tape-even if it is a junky machine like the 80-8. I've managed to get ...
