Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Recently added a DPA4099G, Mojave 300 & 301 and a Daking preamp/eq. So far, really happy! Broke but very happy.

Sorry for abandoning the thread guys... I've been sidetracked with loooong work days and the little wifey's health issues for a week or so. I'm taking her in for MORE tests today. Gotta take care of her because she's put up with me for 41 years. I'm moving some things around to sort of "un-deaden" t...

Yes the room is definitely part of the issue I'm sure. This is a home recording situation with extremely dead acoustics. The guitar sounds completely different out in the living/dining area with the wood floors. I've been trying to keep things in the back room for the convenience of having the gear ...

Thanks guys. The guitar (Martin D41)sounds great in the room but seems to be a bit bass heavy regardless of mic choice or placement. I've been recording it that way and trying to use plugins to clean it up but was wondering if an EQ during the recording stage would give better results? Thanks again....

Using EQ while recording acoustic guitar???
How many folks use EQ when recording acoustic guitar? I understand choice of instrument, playing technique, microphone choice and placement are the first things to address. If I"m really close to the sound I want but feel that the tone of my big bodied acoustic is still too low end dominant, would u...

In my HO, live recording creates a feel that cannot be duplicated in a studio environment. The energy that an audience brings to a performance, whether it's a singer songwriter or a full symphony orchestra is a wonderful thing to witness. Unfortunately, I have little experience with it other than a ...
I'm always amused when people think that you can switch from acoustic drums to electronic, like it's the same thing.
Of course your right Jarvis, but if the drummer can't or won't play softer and the rest of the band bases its volume off the drummer this situation will become uncontro...

4 to 5 meters squared (or 14ft to 16ft sq. for us igerent mericans) really is a tiny area! An untreated room that size is only going to take so much sound level before things become an uncontrollable cacophony. All the eq-ing in the world on the PA isn't going to make the drums sound better. You'll ...

If the drummer can't or won't play at a level that works for your room, your options are few. One... No more drums in the room or Two... (and I'm gonna get crucified for this) rent an electronic drum set and run it through the PA. I don't think making the rest of the band louder is the best thing in...

Did this many years ago for my daughters place of business. This might seem complicated but it worked like a charm. Let me begin by saying that any kind of hard switching may produce a loud pop when switching between microphone and music. In the situation I mentioned, I had them acquire a small inex...

Ok... How about adding harmonica to the equation?
Got the ribbon on the guitar with the null pointed at my face. Got the null of the condenser pointed at the guitar. It's working pretty good. As soon as I play the harp I seem to lose the separation. It's probably a room issue now but I'm continuing to experiment. Do you fine folks have any favorite...

I have the same two pieces and fortunately nothing like this has happened with them...yet. I have had my AI3 tucked right up under my MOTU for a decade without a failure. If it is a heat issue, you might try opening it up to see if it has accumulated a layer of dust over the years. This can be an is...

Putting chassis mounted female connectors through the wall would be a good option. You might want to use electrical conduit boxes for RF rejection. The only caveat might be the length of the cable between the guitar and amp. Anything much beyond a normal guitar cable in length may bugger up your ton...
