here's 5 minutes of meandering warble-fest replete with more and more effects as i go along. in the process i discovered my IPS-33B has mysteriously bit the dust. http://creotia.com/refd/Gakken_SX-150_test.mp3 What is the effect at the end that makes it sound like a two-oscillator synth? Just...

Check this out: If you don't have a Leslie, you may find the chorus/vibrato settings rather useless. However, I discovered that setting the C/V tab to Vibrato and the Small/Normal tab (I think that's what it's called) halfway in between settings, you can get a rather interesting Leslie-like chop.

+1 for Formula 602's. I just completed my set of pre-serials (14" hats, 18" crash, 20" ride) and they're just brilliant.

Ok, here goes: I haven't been out of high school very long, so my first proper recording was on the first version of GarageBand. I used a karaoke mic through several adapters straight into the line-in jack on my Mac. I used this same mic to dub my crummy drum kit (complete with brass cymbals), guita...

Look for a pair of Dynaco, Advent, Acoustic Research, some JBL, etc. Any of those would pair well with your Marantz.

A Studio Projects B1 would work for both jobs.

I play a Seagull! It's a S6 model with a spruce top. Just a basic model, but very nice. Plays well, has a nice balanced tone. I like that for the price of a Korean guitar, you can get something made in North America (Canada to be more specific).

Question: since you've used it on acoustic guitars, is this the only mic you use or do you normally use a stereo pair? Is there anything wrong with using only 1 mic and doubling the signal? I've always done stereo pairs for this, so I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on it. Not sure what you're g...

I don't think it's that important, since mic connections are low impedance and balanced. I recall reading that old-school mics like U67s were designed to drive 100'+ cables, which makes sense, since they were intended for use in large studios, and the same would apply to dynamics; think of how far t...

The knobs aren't glued on, they're just really tight. Try prying them off with a guitar pick.
