I also really like the sm7 on hats. 441 is also great. Problem is I only have one of each and I usually want to use them elsewhere. Have tried my fatheads there lately and really like them there. Also m160s can be great.

Can't recommend the tk audio compressor enough.

Think it's great at any price but the price is great too

I would duplicate the track filter out everything you don't want and then effect the rest. Or use filters before the effect on a send.

My first choice if I could have any mic would be a Beyer m88. I'd be fine with a 57/58 to though. Your not going to be in control over the isolation. I bet 9 times out of 10 you position the mic to reject the kit the drummer will move it to be more comfortable singing. At least hat happens to me all...

WTT: OSA Pre for CAPI VP26

I have a OSA pre, I'm not sure of exactly which model but can send pics. It actually sounds really great. I like the di in it a whole lot. Only looking to trade for a VP26 ( preferably with a red dot) so I can make it an even 4 VP26s. Not interested in other CAPI models but don't care about which fa...

FS: Toft ATB16 (REV3.0)

Hi all, Selling my Toft it's been in my home studio for a about a year. I've loved having it but I need to sell. Zero issues other then a few knob covers that became loose (which I've fixed with replacements from Toft) These things are loved or hated. I will say I think it sounds great at any price ...

If your going for clean you want to start with the attenuation all the way up (fully clockwise) if you're starting with both knobs at 12 o'clock you're adding a bunch of gain which you don't really need and then bringing it back down with the output.

Mass is mass. If you are building from scratch then you can do things more efficiently than if you are building onto an existing structure. Make sure you have a 2-leaf, Mass-Air-Mass system with your outer walls. This is hugely important in terms of isolation: http://ethanwiner.com/misc-content/wal...

Re: SM-57 Vocal Neurosis

A cry for help. :D I made my first 'home' recordings of my own singing, 34 years ago with an SM-57 and a Mackie board. Every so often, I happen upon some old tapes and ADATs of my younger self and I always come back to a truth that I have been unable to face. Seriously I have always, deep down, pre...
